Nah, it's just a return of vintage '95 Favre. Y'know, the guy who made you think that every game was winnable, kept you watching right 'til the end, and then threw the ball to an opposing defensive back.

That said, I thought they could win, watched 'til the end, and will try very hard to forget these past two weeks.

So Gene Washington will fine a defender who goes after the ball but accidentally gets the reveiver in the helmet. But Sapp blindsides an offensive lineman 20 yards away from the play and gets away with it.

Something tells me if Sapp had put Farve or a highprofile skilled-position player on the shelf, things would be different.

It is going to be pretty cold when you come up to Philadelphia in January. Oh, and that monkey on your back doesn't like cold weather. Especially when it is below 40 degrees at kickoff.

From the infamous Wrestleline SS interview:

DTD: If you were to make changes in WCW, if you were in charge and not Ric Flair, what would they be?

SS: I'd get rid of all the old guys, and push the talent that has waited to get the push. The things they are doing, it's back in the 1980s. It's just bad, man. Flair doesn't even deserve to be on the show. You've got to get rid of all the old guys. Like what Vince did, they started pushing guys. Nobody knew who The Rock was 2 years ago. He made The Rock. Now The Rock just did Saturday Night Live. You've got to start with the young talent, talent people can relate to. Who are we trying to relate to if we've got a 50 year old man out there? Are we trying to relate, so a 50 year people and above will go out and buy a f*cking little toy? That ain't gonna happen. It's a f*cking joke.

Does it remind you of any show in particular?

Last I checked, you're starting a backup (one game does not make a convinced) and could be forced to start a third-stringer next week, you're a game behind us, and you're going to be facing a very pissed off Rams team next week.

All that = you paying a trip to the Pirate Ship in January, where I'm sure the confines will not be nearly as friendly, and in fact lead to your downfall.

Besides, even if we do come up there a third straight year, the monkey will be off our backs once we dispatch the Bears in Champaign in the last week of the season...

Equally, the last I checked we crushed one of the better teams in football on prime time with our back-up QB, we had one of the best defences in football, Detmer was possibly gonna be fit to face a Rams team that cant beat the 'Skins, and Mcnabb was due back for playoff time when the real fun starts. Yeah we're a game behind but sure as the sun always rises, the Eagles beat the Bucs come playoff time.

You better plan on winning out because we own the first tiebreaker (head-to-head record) against you just like San Francisco and the second tiebreaker against Green Bay (conference record.)

Oh, when was the last time you beat the Eagles?

1)Remember, the Bucs spent 25 years in the same division as the Bears and Packers. For a lot of those 25 years, the Bears and Packers were good and the Bucs were a laughing stock. Most of those losses were to one of those two teams.

2)The Bucs sucked for most of the past quarter century, and would have lost most of those games regardless of the temperature. Note only five of those are from the past five years, two of which were to the Packers who dominate most teams at home in the cold. And another one, the 2000 game against the Bears, was lost when Gramatica booted a last second FG off the uprights. So it's not that they CAN'T win in cold weather, they just HAVEN'T won in cold weather.

From the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, here's Packers offensive line coach Larry Beightol:

"It's not a cheap shot, but there has to be something where these players look out for each other," Beightol said. "There will be other games. There will be other times. Like the saying goes, every dog has his day. We'll see about him.

"Everyone is fair game. When we see him again, we'll see how that dog fares. We'll cut him every single time. I want him to know that."

Beightol stopped short of saying the Packers would do anything illegal against Sapp, but he said that in the past he instructed his linemen to block Sapp up high and avoid high-risk cut blocks. He said that kind of consideration went out the window when Sapp unloaded on Clifton in what he considered an unnecessary play.

"There's no need for that," Beightol said. "If he's a big, tough, hard-nosed guy, then mix it up in the trenches. I told Monte that we didn't cut him because we didn't want to ruin their season. If we play them again, he's fair game. Somewhere we'll see him."

C'mon, rematch!

They've got to find a way to sneak into the playoffs first, as they currently sit ninth in the AFC playoff standings with the top six making it to postseason play.

They're one game back from Miami and the AFC East Title, and they have the Lions then their division one last time... which they went 3-1 last time. Only this time, I think they'll stomp Miami, being in Foxboro.

I think their only shot is to sneak in as a wild card, because Miami is taking that division. The midseason slump killed the Pats division title hopes. How I think the AFC playoff picture will wind up:

Division winners: Miami, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Oakland
Wild Cards: Denver, San Diego/Jets/Patriots

That second wild card is up in the air. The Chargers have the inside track right now, but there is a good chance they will fall off in the closing weeks.

I don't think that's possible with realignment. With four division champs, isn't there only one wildcard now?

There are still 2 wildcards with the top 2 teams getting a bye.

I like the CFL better (GO OTTAWA!), but I enjoy football as a whole, NFL included. My favorite team? The Packers. And I like their chances. Why? Cause Favre looks like he's getting into a zone, and that cheap-hit may have drove him further. Donald Driver is taking names. The defense is starting to step up. Ahman Green is eating up yardage for breakfast. And never....EVER write-off Brett Favre.

Has the NFL come out and said that they are intentionally scheduling divisional games at the end of the season? Or is it just how the schedule worked out? Cutler banged up and there's still a ton of divisional games in the North.
