Yes, I know that many other people have done threads about the Hitman, but this one will be different. Yes, we all know that he met with McMahon this past Monday. But many still get the facts about the infamous screwjob all wrong. If you really want to know what went down and why things went down the way they did, here is a link to an article written by Dave Meltzer and if you follow wrestling closely, you know who Meltzer is and respect him.
Holy cow, I've been trying to find that ever since my original observer paid the price in an auto theft. THANK YOU!
The best thing about that was reading it when it happened, then a good six months later watching Wrestling With Shadows. It was like you'd already seen the script.

I read this for the first time shortly before the two-part Michaels confessional on the first two Confidential episodes. And this quote from Hart's site stuck with me the most:
This account has stood the test of time and has born out to be true, as has the portrayal of this incident in the award winning Wrestling With Shadows documentary. All other versions of this history making event are riddled with inconsistencies, factual errors and in some cases downright fabrications - but there are those who believe that if you tell a lie enough times it will eventually supplant the truth.
Well … not if we can help it! (Bret Hart . com)
And on those episodes, Michaels confirmed it. I applaud Bret for sticking to his guns throughout the 4+ years Shawn denied it (including his Hogan-like fabrications in RF's shoot interviews).
"I got it. I'll just write 'deceased' and where it says 'Sex:' I'll put 'No, thank you, I'm dead.' It's bulletproof." -Peter Griffin
There's been a few changes since then according to Meltzer. I don't know all of them, but it was a few things, like Undertaker actually knowing going in to the show about the double-cross, as opposed to what was implied before.

I don't think anything has changed. Most, if not all, of what Meltzer wrote still stands true today. It's just that more facts are now known. The Undertaker, Chyna, and HHH knew about it ahead of time.
A few different things have been told differently since that was written. But whether it's because new (contradictory) information has come out since then, or because Dave goes from memory and doesn't re-read an article he wrote 7 years ago before bringing up the subject, is anyone's guess.
"It's just that more facts are now known. The Undertaker, Chyna, and HHH knew about it ahead of time."
I don't beleieve that, HHH and Chyna maybe, but not taker. I heard Dave say a million times on his radio show that there is footage of Taker pounding on Vinces office, about ready to kill him right after it all went down. The reason it didn't make the tape, is they signed a deal agreeing not to let 'Taker appear out of character.

Yeah, that's what I meant. More facts were known. Meltz reported originally that HHH and Chyna knew about the double-cross ahead of time (certainly HHH, and I'm assuming Chyna knew by default) but originally it was not reported that Undertaker knew, whereas on wrestlingclassics.com, Meltz confirmed that Vince told Taker ahead of time about the deal.

Appearantly you didn't read the article. Here it is from the Meltzer report.
Undertaker was furious, pounding on the locked door and when he came out to talk with him Undertaker told him in no uncertain terms that he needed to apologize to Hart. He went to Hart's dressing room where Hart had just come out of the shower. Smith answered the door and Hart said he didn't want to see him.
