Who will it be?

For some reason I am thinking Sheamus is going to have a big year. He really seems to be becoming the whole package since the face turn.

I tend to agree with you but don't forget that Sheamus is a former two-time WWE Champion.

Cody Rhodes seems to be on the verge of something special, as does Dolph Ziggler. Long term, I feel that Cody Rhodes can be the star babyface that they always wanted Orton to be. As much as I like Orton, Cody has a little something extra on the mic.

If they handle his reintroduction correctly, and manage his push meticulously, I really feel that Brodus Clay could go very far in a short space of time.

If I had to draft someone based on potential, I'd go with Justin Gabriel. He's small and can move like the luchadores, and he has a good look and a marketable background. If he could work an angle against Cody for the IC belt (bully champ vs. scrappy underdog), he could get over quickly.

I am expecting Bully Ray to have a kickass world title reign. Alternatively, James Storm seemed to have a ton of momentum behind him towards the end of last year. His popularity could and should be capitalized on.

Sheamus is a two time champ so I wouldn't go with him. 2011 was Dolph Ziggler's breakout year and he'll likely have an even better year in 2012. I'll go with Cody Rhodes or James Storm. Storm is easily one of the best promo guys in the business and I think he'll get the title back at Lock-down and with the improved booking with Pritchard in charge he'll get his chance to shine.

For Sheamus to break out more than he already has, he'd need to be champ for a year. The guy is already way over.

I think Ziggler and Rhodes will be the true breakout stars.
Not sure if they'll be dominant champs during that year but they'll definitely ascend to the upper level.
Somehow I hope Daniel Bryan will also be allowed to break out, and just show how good he can be. Doesn't need to be champ but just steal the show on a regular basis.

Storm and Roode are on their way to breaking through in TNA. I do hope they don't get cut off or discarded for whatever new WWE reject they get.

You guys are only a different wavelength than me. I'm meaning someone becoming a huge star. Yeah Sheamus has been a world champion, but that really doesn't mean anything in 2012 WWE. I mean, it does, but not like in the 80's when it cemented you as a top guy (just ask Swagger).

2011 was Punk's breakout year IMO. Punk had been a top guy, but the reactions he is getting now compared to what he was getting in March are night and day.

I could see Cody winning a world title, but will anyone care? I was slightly interested in his mask schtick, but now he's back to being just another guy.

I agree with everything you said except the Cody being just another guy part. I think he's established a distinctive persona really well, and if his new storyline involving his brother and Booker unfolds the way it looks to unfold... it will really cement him as an evil mfer.

I fully expect Ziggler to become a WWE/World Champion at some point this year ... the guy just has the "it" factor ... he reminds me of a little bit of Ric Flair mixed with a little bit of Curt Hennig ...

He'll win a belt, but I don't see him as the guy that everyone outside the IWC is talking about.

There's not one of those a year, though. Punk was the first guy to get the keys to the bona fide ME club since Jericho in 2008.

Yeah, I've really enjoyed his promos lately. He's seems more and more comfortable as the cocky heel.

I will go with Mike Bennett of ROH. Love his schtik.

It's an OK gimmick, but he's ROH's worst in-ring guy.

I'm Charlie Owens, good night, and good luck.

Brodus Clay ... if they give him the unstoppable fat guy gimmick.

And that old-guy manager schtick belongs on a syndicated WCW show.

These days they don't even take a guy seriously until he's a three or four-time champion.

But I predict that Dolph Ziggler will win a world title (legitimately!) before year's end.

Being bad in the ring does not necessarily not equate to becoming a big breakout star, so I stand by my pick.

Sheamus has the tools to be a huge star, certainly. Really if you want to get him to the next level, winning the World title at Wrestlemania would be the way to do it. That's the best way to elevate someone. When was the last time a relatively new face won the Royal Rumble and then the title at 'Mania in an attempt to elevate them? Rey in 2006 didn't light the world on fire, Batista in 2005 did.

How DARE you insult WCW Pro by suggesting "Brutal" Bob Evans(there's an apt nickname if I ever heard one) should be on it! I wouldn't put him on TNA Xplosion(assuming that's still on the air)

Managers should be given to guys who can't promo. Bennet is FEH in-ring, but he can promo. Time to send Evans back to his restaurant chain.

I'm Charlie Owens, good night, and good luck.
