I hate the fucking 'Boss'. Bruce Spingsteen gets praised as the voice of America, the working man and all this crap. That's bullshit. He's more like a McDonalds cheeseburger. The 'Boss' is bland and unoffensive (go ahead and add the cheeseburger joke)like the McDonalds cheeseburger and that's what Americans love more than anything...bland and unoffensive.
Well that was just sort of out of left field. Not really much to argue with in return, as I know I'm not generally persuaded from vehement anger and hatred of someone's music, but I really thing there's far more worthy targets musically of such anger than Bruce. But then I'm depressed I didn't get to go see him this Wed. when he played here, so I'm likely a bit biased on this count.
Just out of question regarding the "unoffensive" epithet, do you mean musically or politically or what? Because I know that "American Skin" sure pissed a lot of people off with its criticisms of NYPD and their horrific killing of Amadou Diallo.
Bears Forget NFL Games go 60 minutes: New Orleans 29, Chicago 23 Bears go to 2-1 (next at Buffalo) Congratulations to the Brisbane Lions for beating my Collingwood Magpies for the AFL Preimership...we'll get you next year though! Brisbane 10 15 75 Collingwood 9 12 66
Maybe he's just been up to my school, which is populated seemingly exclusively by people from Joisey and Strong Island. Between him and Billy Joel, I wasn't sure who pissed me off more just as a matter of having to listen to people talk about them.
Then everyone got into DMB, and my favorite target was back.
One Big Bad Motha said:The Beatles weren't particularly offensive, and they seemed to be remembered pretty well.
Really? I'm sure that the "bigger than Jesus" quote wasn't offensive to anyone, ESPECIALLY not right wing christians. Yeah, the more I think about it, the more you're right... Lennon never did anything just to piss people off. He was a very bland personality...
Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery. -Malcom X
So, do you all hate his music? Or is it just the way he's portrayed by the media? I'm a lifelong Springsteen fan, but I'm sometimes amazed at the labels thrown on him and his music. The whole "Springteen is the voice of America after 9/11" bullshit is nauseating. Hey, guess what? No one would think that if the media didn't FORCE IT DOWN OUR FUCKING THROATS in every concert/album review! Personally, I think his music is fine on its own. The constant mislabeling or bandwagoning (English?)is pretty infuriating, though. It's been happening since the days of Reagan and Born in the USA.
I've missed only 3 WWE PPV's since 1995. Why don't girls like me?
