Damn, I'm gone for a few weeks and NO ONE has commented on this show yet?

What's WRONG with you people?

First and foremost, I'm happy to say that the voices and characterizations are perfect. Huey, Gran'pa and the rest so far sound EXACTLY as I imagined them to sound.

Second, I'm glad Aaron McGruder is in total control of this show because anyone else would completely fuck it up. Anyone else would not allow Huey to have a semi-automatic weapon pointed at a old white guys head in the first episode... in the first five minutes of the first episode at that. Anyone else would NEVER allow even the thought of the idea of having R Kelly peeing on someone, and show it (though blurred) in the second episode. These thing would NEVER happen under someone elses watch.

Lastly, The bumpers that the Cartoon Network have been showing during the show are freaking awesome. The Oprah one had me spitting out beer through my nose.

Anyone else watching this EXCELLENT show?

I saw the first episode and wasn't terribly excited by it. The second one is still in the DVR. So...that's what's wrong with me!

I have to say the second ep was much better than the first. And not just because of the whole peeing sequence, or

I put off watching the first one forever, because I'd gotten the vibe from reviews that I'd be disappointed watching it and I really didn't want to be horribly disappointed. I ended up watching it back to back with the second episode, and I was disappointed. But the second episode was better.

I didn't unconditionally love it either, though - I enjoyed the stuff with Riley out debating Thomas Dubios, but it feels like I've read the exact same lines in the comic at some point. It worked there too, but, you know, I want something more than I'm getting in the comic, or what's the point? (I guess the other stuff is the courtroom bit, which had it's moments.)

The anime style is weird and unsettling. What an evil plan.

Adam West as William Kuntsler is so very odd.

The weird faux anime style is growing on me, although i'm still not thriled with it.

And I kept thinking about the R' Kelly song from the Chappelle Show while watching it.

The show seems like it could be okay. The first episode wasn't too bad. But the second episode did nothing for me. I just don't care at all about R Kelly, and it's not like his trial is topical anymore, is it?

I think Aaron has a sharp sense of humor, but I'm still on the fence where Boondocks is concerned. This may be obvious to someone else, but is he making a statement, provoking discussion, or just being outrageous?

I've also only seen the second episode and I liked what I saw. It's my first exposure to anything Boondocks (yes, I realize I've lived under a rock) and I was amazing at how offensively hilarious it was. And yes, John Witherspoon still rules the world. I've missed his presence on TV.

And if anyone finds this show underwhelming, think that at least it's worlds better than some of the utter crap Adult Swim has been putting up lately (12 Oz Mouse, anyone?).

This one had a great ending with Jim realizing that the Dome isn't going anywhere and he has the opportunity to take control. And we're slowly but surely seeing what kind of guy he really is. Good stuff (grading on a curve here).
