KSU over OU 35-7!
Most people agreed that if OU lost, they would still go to the NC. But nobody thought they would get routed.
What happens now? USC vs LSU? USC vs OU? LSU vs OU?

It is really up in the air. It depends on the poll voters. The newspaper rankings and the computers. I'm going with USC vs LSU and USC winning a VERY close football game. But that's just me.

I'm sure tons of people are going to argue for a playoff system. But, I just can't warm up to it. College football is all about tradition, controversy and rivalries. That is the difference between it and the NFL. Keep it that way, it's special. Nothing is like NCAA college football.

My oh my!

Well, at least SEADAWG stands vindicated.

Once again, Football and the BCS prove incompatible.

How to Make the Wienerboard a Better Place, Chapter 1: Just because you can't spell "Heidenreich", doesn't make you clever.
I don't know that I'd go THAT far, but it certainly makes things eenteresting. I still think they're in, but today's developments may push LSU close enough to make it.

Of course, it goes without saying that a three-way dance would rule enough to transcend the limits of human comprehension.

I seem to remember in the "ou sux" thread started by Sea Dawg that some of you said that K-Statewas basically a bunch of overrated babies playing a creampuff schedule. Well, I believe this is the fourth ranked team they have beaten (maybe third). Let's see, they destroyed Nebraska and they destroyed Oklahoma by 28 points. Sproules set a record for yardage in the Big 12 Championship game. The only question I have as a Cat backer is how will they screw them and stick them in a crapy bowl now. C'mon and admit it, Snyder is one hell of a coach, they are one hell of a lot better team than many thought and if Roberson hadn't gotten hurt, they might have played for the national title.

On ESPN they just projected USC as # 1 in the polls and #3 in the BCS, with OU #1 and LSU #2. How fucked up is THAT?

Well, if a BCS bowl is crappy, then color K-State crappy. As the Big XII champs, they are going to Fiesta Bowl, the Big XIIs normal tie-in.

Unless USC drops goes from #2 to #1 in NYT and/or Billingsley, they are headed to the Rose Bowl to face MEEEE-CHEGIN...

Final, Unoffical, verdict, OU #1, LSU #2.

Yes, and the NCAA has a proud tradition of screwing over fans by not giving them a true national champion, which is why we have stupid arguments like this every year.

Ideally, we'd all be excited now about an Oklahoma/USC/LSU/Michigan Final Four tourney in the Rose, Orange and Sugar Bowls to decide the undisputed champ.

The BCS Might be broke but playoffs certainly aren't the answer. In one NCAA divsion this year (AA, perhaps?) a three loss team who made it in because of a week field in their region upset an undefeated team and won the national title. If this is the reaction NOW to three 1 loss teams going for two spots, what's the reaction going to be when some little 4 loss MAC shit comes through gets lucky and walks away with the title? Unless you're going to exclude them, and only take, say, the top 16 teams. Well then what was the point of the guys who won their conferences even bothering to win them, if, because they aren't polled high enough or their conference is particularily weak, they aren't going to be involved? What's the point for the teams that are never will bes or also rans to even have programs anymore?

The problem with getting rid of the bowls is that, while it certainly might make the national championship picture a bit clearer it only benefits a select few programs. The current system is developed to be the greatest good for the greatest amount of people. A bunch of teams get all sorts of extra cash, recruiting power (we went to a bowl game!), and national TV exposure, players get to play another game which for many of the lower bowls is the first time since last year's bowl games that they've been on national TV, and the fans get to follow their team for one more game, and a bowl at that. I can understand if all you care about is the big prize, but not everybody else is. In fact, I could care less who wins the title this year, I'm more concerned with the outcome of the Music City Bowl.

Wisconsin Badgers: 7-5 (Music City Bowl, eh? Oh well, I'll take it. A bowl is a bowl.)

Minnesota Vikings: 7-5 (Identical records! Honestly, I didn't see the blowout by the Rams, so I won't comment except to say: Ha Ha, Green Bay!)

How about this:

Have the Pre-BCS bowl tie-ins the week after end of the regular season, then after that, have a 16, 24, or 32 team playoff using the BCS system for selection (and other factors could be used, like conf champs and what not) and use the playoff to crown the champ.

That way people would still have their "tradition" and others will have that playoff to crown a champ.

The 3 loss team, Northern Arizona, had one of those losses against Arizona State, which a lot of 1-AA schools do for the cash.

As far as them upsetting the #1 team, it was 35-3, hardly a close game. And, isn't this what everyone loves about the NCAA basketball tournament, the Cinderella team? (They did lose yesterday, however)

A 16 team football playoff would generate so much cash it would not be funny. It is ridiculus that 1-A football is the only NCAA sport that does not have a playoff to determine its champion.

SEADAWG hasn't come in here and gloat, that's almost as surprising as the K-state win. Maybe SeaDawg put his money where his mouth is and he's counting his dollar bills, especially if he took the Moneyline... Well I did a umm friendly wager on a 3 game parley Boise St over Hawaii (check), the tough game on my card LSU over Georgia (Check!), ohh and the sure bet OU over K-State (che.. Dammit!)

Gawd I'm bitter, I wish OU drops out of the BCS and have JR drown in eggnog Live on Raw!... Maybe the word of Mike Stoops leaving Oklahoma messed the team up. If we learned ANYTHING from the sitcom "Coach" is that when an assistant coach is rumored or makes official they are leaving the team it always means bad news for your team.

First, like Java said, nobody would 'complain' about a Cinderella team because we've seen enough of them in March Madness. If a team can pull some upsets, more power to them.

Seeing as how the BCS is slanted towards the major conferences anyway, it's not exactly an even playing field right now as it is. I think the ideal formula would be having the whole bowl schedule as usual, and then an eight-team playoff to determine the national champion. It rotates between the Sugar, Rose, Orange and Fiesta (same as now) getting the national championship on January 8th or so, with two of those bowls getting semi-final games on New Year's and the last one getting a quarterfinal matchup on Christmas or Boxing Day. The SEC, Big Ten, Pac-10 and Big 12 champs all get automatic invites to the Elite Eight, with four at-large bids.

I admit it I said I won't believe it until I see. And I what I saw was Kansas State destroy Oklahoma, say yeah, I admit I was wrong. They are good. As for not making a good bowl? Aren't they guaranteed a BCS game for winning their Conference?

I'm guessing
LSU vs. Oklahoma - Sugar Bowl
USC vs. Michigan - Rose Bowl
Ohio State vs. Miami - Orange Bowl
FSU vs. Kansas State - Fiesta Bowl

Also keep in mind. The pollsters don't have to vote for number on in the BCS. If USC does play Michigan and beat them then that's a great win. Some people think Michigan is the best team even though they have to losses. They could still be number one in the polls which would make them co-champions wouldn't it?

I didn't expect this one. Without him and Bruschi, as well as the departure of the coaching staff, the 2-time defending champs may have a tough season ahead of them. Belichik and Brady are awesome, but not good enough to overcome this.
