From Page Six (nypost.com) in today's NY Post - The All-Time All Ugly Team

March 29, 2005 -- THE NBA gives its players a number of awards each year, with players being honored for best defense, top scorer, most valuable player and even most civic-minded. Now there's a new prize to display on the mantle: the All-Ugly Team. Thephatphree.com has released a list of past and present pro hoopsters hit hardest by the ugly stick, and some legendary ballers made the cut. The squad includes the giant Gheorghe Muresan, E.T.-lookalike Sam Cassell, legendary Celtics forward Larry Bird, former Knicks big man Patrick Ewing, odd-looking Popeye Jones, and homely journeyman Mengke Bateer.

It begs the question, who is Mengke Bateer and do we really want to see him ? I always thought the only thing missing from Kevin McHale were the bolts in his neck. And for the other old-timers on the board - Neal Walk had to be the hairiest player ever.

Any "All-Ugly" team without Tyrone Hill and Manute Bol has no value with me.

Looks like the Post is about two weeks late. The list (thephatphree.com) was posted back on the 14th.

Didn't Bill Simmons have a list out probably a year ago or so on this subject too? I tried to look but it appears you need to have ESPN Insider if you want to access his columns that are a year older or more.

As for the list CRZ linked too, yeah it's pretty good but I disagree with the 86 Celtics as the all-time ugliest team. Don't get me wrong, there bad but the 87 Milwaukee Bucks got them beat; Jack Sikma, Randy Breuer, and the immortal Paul Mokeski. Popeye Jones looks like Brad Pitt compared to those guys.

Now that he's declared for the draft, Charlie Villanueva is sure to be the Rookie of the Year for the all-Ugly team. Damn.

What was so weird about Patrick Ewing? He was no prize, but he's way better looking than those other guys....

....man, this is the straightest thread ever.

I'm interested in selling my youngest daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. She's a Georgetown sophomore, speaks fluent Italian, always cleared the table when it was her turn. What would a good price for her be? While thinking about that, can I ask another? My Chief of Staff Leo McGarry insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly says he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself or is it okay to call the police? Here's one that's really important because we've got a lot of sports fans in this town: touching the skin of a dead pig makes one unclean. Leviticus 11:7. If they promise to wear gloves, can the Washington Redskins still play football? Can Notre Dame? Can West Point? Does the whole town really have to be together to stone my brother John for planting different crops side by side? Can I burn my mother in a small family gathering for wearing garments made from two different threads? Think about those questions, would you? One last thing: while you may be mistaking this for your monthly meeting of the Ignorant Tight-Ass Club, in this building, when the President stands, nobody sits." --- President Jed Bartlett, The West Wing

As a hockey fan at times it's hard to go back to normal NHL regular season after seeing Olympic/World Cup hockey because you got the best hockey players (most top players from their team) playing in this game.
