Kyle's been dominant all season, but all it takes is one crash or blown-up engine to ruin his chase. I can see that happening with his all-or-nothing way of racing (him crashing while racing for the lead instead of taking a 'safe' top-5). JJ has always been good in the chase, having won at least once every year and finishing no worse than fifth in these playoffs. He's my favorite to win and go three straight.
My dark horse would have to be Jeff Burton. He's been solidly among the top 5 in the leaderboard for almost the entire season. He also has some tracks where he has most recently won (Texas, Dover) and others where he has usually been strong (NH,Phoenix) coming up. It would be a great story if he won, since he's so likeable among the fans and it would complete the rebound from how his tenure ended at Rousch, where he couldn't buy a sponsorship to save his life, despite having a top-10 car to go with his top-10 talent.
I'm doing a radio interview with Dave Rodman from NASCAR.com on Friday (available for podcast later), anyone got any questions you want me to ask him?

I've got a couple, though admittedly only the first two are about the chase:
1.) If he had control of what tracks to race, which ones would he choose? I think it's works ok for the most part, but I would rather have Las Vegas instead of California in the chase, like they're planning to do next year. Or at least a chase race in the Midwest, like Michigan or Chicago. Really, anything other than god-awful Cali.
2.) What's up with Dodge? Yeah, they won the Daytona 500 and a couple of other races, but to get totally shut out of the chase is just sad. Is it the teams that are performing poorly or is it Dodge itself that's giving them poor equiment?
3.) Has Red Bull finally decided what to do with AJ Allmendinger? Has he improved enough to keep his seat for next year or is Scott Speed the real deal everyone says he is? I think this is important because I get the feeling RB is the breakout team to watch next year, probably winning a couple of races with Vickers and maybe getting into the chase.
4.) Does Randy Moss Motorsports have a chance of lasting in the Truck series? I don't doubt for a minute that Moss is serious about owning a team, but when championship teams like Bobby Hamliton Racing are having trouble fielding cars due to the economy, is now really a good time to start up a racing team?
Thanks a mil for letting me get to ask these questions, Eddie Famous!
Is it time to do something serious with drivers who run into each other after the race or on cautions or, is it part of the show and we should just let it go.
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.

Since the Chase is a qualified success, isn't the next logical step for NASCAR to change the points-system into something that is easier for casual fans to follow and understand?
Also - does he think NASCAR is going to try to legislate Cup drivers out of the Nationwide Series, which I think would be a huge mistake.

Heck, three questions that nothing to do with the Chase:
1: Now that Craftsman has announced that its no longer sponsoring the Truck series, who's next?
2: Considering the success of Toyota in NASCAR, is the door going to be opened for other manufacturers, such as Volkswagen, Honda or anyone else?
3: How about putting a few more Canadian cities in? Edmonton and Toronto have very strong racing communities, and have tracks that sustain a Cup series race. Toronto has a road course, and Edmonton has an oval, I think.
I ended up recording the interview for playback next week because the Illinois DIA messed up a start time for a volleyball broadcast and my Friday show was the casualty.
So it'll be a week before the show is up on podcast...I'll post the link to it waeh it's there.
Thank you all for your help.

Nice job - I don't know how much you actually know or care about NASCAR (your co-host seemed to be very knowledgeable) but you came across better than a typical non-NASCAR follower, I thought. (If that's the case...)

Thank you JJD, I'm slowly learning about the sport. Jason Randall is the guy I have on to talk about it every couple of weeks or so.
I've always thought the best way to handle a sports talk show it to have guests that know what they are talking about, and ask them good questions. That sounds simple, but how many poeple do you hear actually do that?

Originally posted by CajunManAnybody think Hendrick Motorsports(J.Gordon/J.Johnson) was laying low till the chase? Who thinks Kyle Busch is so done now?
Jimmie Johnson is on a roll now.
Kyle isn't done by any means... yet. During the chase, drivers can tend to have one bad race if its early enough to come back later on. JJ finished 39th at NH in '06 and still came back to win his first championship. So it isn't impossible for Kyle to get back in first place.
The problem is that Kyle's an all-or-nothing driver. Especially with this start, I can see him in Dover driving the car all over the place, not being satsified with anything but first to make up for NH. That could lead to two things: him winning more races like he's done this year or him trying to push it too far and wrecking the car again. JJ, on the other hand, has won on many of these 'chase' tracks and even on a less then great day can still get a top 10 out of his car. That's why, until he has a horrible stretch of races, I'm sticking with Jimmie to become a three-time champ.
Oh, and Eddie Famous, thanks for the podcast. Good interview with Rodman. Let me know if you're able to get him later on during the chase.
