| #7 Posted on 9.9.02 2126.08 | I must admit that it gets pretty darn annoying when they can't even commentate on a match without Lawler mentioning HLA at least 5 times. I can deal with silly fluff like HLA, but I want to at least watch a match or two without without JR being interrupted over and over again.
I certainly don't think wrestling is dead by a long shot, and I will still be watching. But they have to know when it is too much, and Lawler tonight is too much. Please make him stop.

| #10 Posted on 9.9.02 2256.24 | Wrestling, just like most other forms of entertainment, tends to go through natural low and high cycles. Currently in the US, it's somewhere in the middle (or it's low, but showing some signs of improvement.) Eventually it'll work itself back up again.
I could really go for some of these puro tapes which are being talked about a lot. I could use a change from the norm.

Watching Raw reminded me of this old man I saw at a wedding a few years ago. Everyone was cheering him on as he tried to get funky to Micheal Jackson's "beat it". He looked like a mentally retarded chicken to be honest, but he wasn't embarresed. He thought he "still gotz it".
Thats what the wwe seems like right now. They are trying to say "hey, we still got attitude! We still got Edge!". Even though they don't realize that there attitude days or "there primes" are over.
I'm kinda hoping the PTC reconsiders and starts harrasing the WWE again.

| #13 Posted on 10.9.02 0815.22 | American wrestling is dead?
That's weird, because I could have sworn that every Thursday night we have Smackdown!; the best all-round wrestling show since Nitro's prime.
People have been talking about wrestling's death for years. Well IMO the last three years of WWF/E PPV's have on average been better than anything from that company in the previous 15 years. On the whole, wrestling (WWE) is better now (on all shows) that for the majority of the 80's and 90's, at least when taking into account the cards from top to bottom.
One bad angle doesn't erase all the great wrestling we've seen lately. Ill-advised as the HLA angle may have been, this isn't the final straw or the death-knell of wrestling.

| #16 Posted on 10.9.02 1110.47 | Raises a question that's been kicked around before on other threads: When the WWE goes into a down cycle, who IS the loyal hardcore that remains? Who ARE the people controlling the 3% of televisions in the nation that Vince can count on each and every week? For a show beginning at 9:00 PM in three of four time zones? After school has been in at least a week in each and every portion of this great land?
I mean, you can tell from the last two questions who I think it is and who I think it SHOULD be, but surely the ratings mavens must have analyzed this, say, in 1995 and again now.
Haven't they?
Another test case is a REALLY poorly attended house show, like 1992 West Coast WCW show attendance. Look around: VERY few kids. The WWE just went through a period of 2K and fewer attendees, and it looks like they're past that particular trough, but what were those crowds like? Still full of actual, twelve and under kids?

| #18 Posted on 10.9.02 1137.30 | You know why I put up with the HLA thing? Because it was such a blatantly obvious setup for a Three Minute Warning - and my favorite moment of the show was watching and hearing Lawler's reaction to the lesbians getting DESTROYED by Jamal and Rosie. I'm hoping this shuts him up for good, but they still desperately need to shitcan him and bring in one of the ECW stalwarts, or get Regal out of the ring for good.

| #20 Posted on 10.9.02 1233.12 | Instant Rating: 3.08 | Well, whether I approve of homosexuals on network or cable television is really not of any importance, and also not the reason I stopped watching. The last two shows on WWE's main programming has reeked of desperation. BAD. A good comparison is the MTV show Undressed, which is what this show is rapidly becoming.
Another good comparision is South Park, who were the hottest thing for about two years, and fell stright to hell. They made a small blip on the radar with a few good shows this season, but all in all every desperation tactic has failed.
But the REAL reason I turned off my TV is the pure fact that I KNEW Lawler was not going to shut up the entire time...
