Last night was the premiere of Teen Titans, and it was so-so.

The fights were good, as was Mammoth's Val Venis imitation. But some of the dialogue was hokey, Gizmo was ANNOYING and they never explained how Robin reappeared.

Overall, I guess Teen Titans was alright.

Also of note, During the commercial break they showed a Duck Dodgers commercial and it ruled.

I thought it was junk myself.

I wasn't too impressed with MTV's Spider-man series and I'm even less impressed with "Teen Titans." Why is it every time animators try to hip it up for the younger folks it comes off as dull and patronising and stupid?

Dull plot, uninspired characters, pretty much eveyrthing that made the comic decent was jettisoned and put through the Cartoon Crusher and what spat out follows the captain planet model. I'm sure we'll have plenty of episodes on the value of working as a team.

And given how . . .ass . . .this looked, I don't think that anime and WB styles gel very well.

Then again, it's not targeted toward me so whatever.

Who is the target audience anyway? Two of my kids (ages 5 and 7) were dying to watch this. I taped it, but haven't watched it yet. SO, what's in it for their ages?

I turned it off halfway through- I was expecting something more along the lines of the Batman series... boy that was one crappy cartoon. And the anime just made it worse...

The commercials which were lame were aimed at 7-15 year-olds.

The next episode "Sisters" is supposed to be very good.

This is a show designed for kids, not kids and big kids, like most of the other previous DC/CN toons.

I saw snippets of it today at the DC Booth. It doesn't look like it's for me.

I'll settle for the new Titans book being good. :>

Well now we've watched it and my kids loved it! But like I said, the oldest is 7, so that looks like the target audience. I thought it was pretty innocuous.

It's been stated a bunch of times in the press for this show that it's being targeted to younger viewers, like the under 14 set, I believe.

Robin's voice.. weird.

Puffy Ami Yumi theme? tEh AWESUM! TEEEEEEEN TITANS!

The little chibi scolding scene was fun too.

I think I'm the target audience of Raven at least. She's very Ruri (from Nadesico) in voice and actions.

Other than that, really weak. Why wouldn't Robin know who Deathstroke is?

You know. . .bad as "Teen Titans" was, "Penguins Behind Bars" on Sunday was far far lamer than anything the worst epsiode of "Teen Titans" could throw at me.

Why do the twin phrases "Cartoon Network Original Series" and "Adult Swim Premiere" fill me with a similar hateful sense of dread?

In any case I figure I'll give it another shot next week (Heard the second episode is much much better than the first) which is more than the 30 seconds I can give *anything* on TNN before the urge to rip my eyeballs from my sockets kicks in.

Teen Titans supposdly got the highest rating for boys aged 6-11 in Cartoon Network history.

Also, "Penguins Behind Bars" was very unfunny. "Captain Sturdy" was also very unfunny.

Ohhh no, that one I actually LIKED. Any time you can have some one saying "he had in in a Figure 4 leglock that was so perfect it was almost erotic . . . That's the power of that particular hold, the Figure 4," you've got yourself a series.

That's what makes me nuts about Adult Swim. "Saddle Rash" got ONE pilot, John K got . . .jesus, HOW many? And they *all* sucked.

"Saddle Rash" is the exception that proves the rule, I guess.

I believe Sadle Rash only had the pilot because the guy who did the narrator's voice died. Also, I thought that "Venture Brothers" was pretty funny, and I guess that they're going to do more of those.

I knew Waylon Jennings had died (He was one of the guys in the barber shop) but none of the rest of the cast, which, Sarah Silverman aside, was pretty much the stock company of "Home Movies."

More "Venutre Bros," eh? So long as it replaces the Oblongs, I can live with it. Just slot the crap in the crap slot where it belongs.

Last night, the second episode of Teen Titans "Sisters" aired, and it was better than the first. Not that many fights but the character development was good, Starfire had hilarious facial reactions, and there were some funny lines.

Having watched both episodes so far, I think it's very passable.

I loved the "li'l fearful five minus two" althogh they redesigned Jinx and took away Gizmo's beard. :>

I also really dig Goth Chick Raven. Very funny.

The shovels line got a big laugh out of me. Starfire is just PRECIOUS isn't she?

"Beast Boy" is like the Chao Tzu of this team. He seems to serve no purpose but annoy me and get his ass kicked.

The problem is that all these "celebrities" are just looking to make jokes and get themselves noticed. They also wanted to turn every subject into a joke about sex. I did enjoy the look at wrestling at the start of 85 though.
