Maybe I am just too suspicious but I have to believe there is more going on here than we are led to believe. For instance, don't you need a visa to get into a place like Iraq? Something is fishy here.

He was able to obtain a visa because both of his parents were born in Iraq. Of course, I would have thought that minors would need parental consent before being able to obtain a visa, particularily to a place like Iraq. But maybe not.

Shouldn't the parents or (if it is a boarding school) the school hold some responsibility for a 16 year old disappearing to a foreign country? Wouldn't he technically fall into the category of runaway and be remanded into state custody while an investigation occurred? And, if it is a boarding school, shouldn't someone be investigating what sort of supervision they provide minors?
