does anyone else think that they need to get rid of this loser?
pulling all that racial bullsh!t. (sorry for swearing, i dont' know how strict u are on this, let me know if i'm out of line i'm new.)
out of the entire WWE staff and superstars, he's the only one who's kicking up anything about racial differences. and if i have to hear him say "player" one more time, i'm gonna fly to America an' b!tchslap him! god, i'm surprized Vince is letting him run with this racial bit.
Twist of Fate...
Twist of Fate to Swanton Bomb. never to be seen again with the departure of Jeff Hardy. :(
The Obtuse Angle (wienerboard.com) <- No kidding, right? Buffy 7.19 gets a 8.33 Cat fighting! Clem! Curly Fries! Faith dancing! It's a bumpy ride to the end. Next week: Faith and Wood? Ech.
Not to seem like I'm picking on you (I'm not). How long have you been watching wrestling? The Fed has a long and storied history of sterotypical black characters and angles. JYD, Slick, The Godfather, the NOD, and the list goes on. At least this one is fairly entertaining, depending on your taste for Theodore Long.

Teddy Long is great at this angle. The angle itself is not great or new for WWE, but I do like Teddy, great for him to get tv time. But its a shame WWE doesn't really want to get Teddy/Back the Mack angle over cause if they did, the 5 minute white boy challenge would be against WWE stars.

i'm just syain that i think it's cr@p they have to rely on topics like this one to get ratings.
u'd think they'd have learned their lesson with the HHH Kane story, with Katie Vick. that was SOO wrong, that it didn't even air over here. u saw HHH go to the coffin, then it went off. i read online that he got in the coffin with her or something after that.

Simply by having Theodore Long talk the way he does, all the racial issues behind the angle have been removed for me.
He is out there, doing an over the top black man act, with all the Hatorade and Playa hollerin' and I grin at it. Now I am sure there are people who actually act like that IRL, but that doesn't mean Teddy is making this all very watchable and sort of tongue-in-cheek. The whole idea of a white boy challenge, calling Jazz 'boo' all the time.. it's great.
It's really no different than the stereotypes we're seeing on TV or in half a dozen movies out right now.... does make it any better for the WWE to do? Probably not. But they're essentially doing what everyone else is out there. Personally, I think they're doing it in a way where most people understand he is a character, and not that the entire WWE product is racist (though I'd certainly understand arguments against that). And I think he's tremendous on the mic -- he has been since the days of Doom in WCW.

Teddy Long rules playa, and if you cant be down with that you need to take your hatorade and get outta here. Cause when Teddy gets done thuggin and buggin on you, it'll be off the hizzle fo shizzle, ya feel me playa?

I hate to tell you this, but if what he says is pissing you off then it means he's doing his job well. The guys a heel. The more people who want his blood the better.

I was pretty annoyed with the angle he was involved in at first, but then I see his actions at Backlash with Trish and the shoe throwing. That won me over. Even the night after when they celebrated with the balloons, I thought it was kind of funny. Hey, I'm educated enough to tell the difference between real and fake "racism". Not only that, it's the first time in forever that I've seen Teddy do the manager thing, so I admit it, I'm starting to like it, playa.

The problem with Theodore is that he is making his heelness about being black. "I'm a heel because I'm a proud black man" is just not cool. "I'm a heel because I throw my shoe at my client's opponent, and I happen to also be a proud black man," on the other hand, would be cool. They need to move this angle in that direction, and Backlash was a good first step.
Similarly, as much as I love Harvard's heelish ways, using completely mainstream political beliefs to garner heel heat is tasteless and off-putting to a big section of the audience.
The shoe thing made a believer out of me when it comes to Long's effectiveness as a corner-man, but until he changes his schtick a little, his mic-work will continue to make me cringe. I think I'd like him on the mic with a slightly less blatantly offensive gimmick....

Yea I'd say this whole angle is more a parody than anything. Almost reminds me of the old SNL Chris Rock black power sketch. Sure its a bit offensive but thats the point, and people who get it and aren't easily offended will just laugh. WWE like SNL enjoys pushing buttons. If you're offended by racial stuff then I have to wonder what you feel about the Guerreros playing off their racial stereotype angle all this time, and the FBI for that matter.
The only problem I have with the angle is that King and Coach take it too seriously. Teddy has appropriately gone way over the top with it, but they keep humoring him. The correct response to "Coach is your slave-name" is "What the hell is wrong with you?" Not, "I didn't know that."

And Kaientai, and Regal, and La Resistance, and Canadians, and so on and so on.

King, yes. But I'm loving the way Coach is playing the straight man in this angle (although I think Tazz would do it even better).

I do think a gimmick like this walks the fine line but I think they are doing a good enough job in making it over the top enough that it can be considered silly.
Mack being held down! What has he done to deserve a push in the first place!... Jazz being cheated out of the title with a referee missed call! But she blatantly cheated to win the title without a second thought.
I think it's playing off well with Jazz but I personally don't know if the Mack has any talent at all to.
I'm surprised Teddy hasn't questioned Trish's racial prejudice and accuse her of having Lil Kim as her entrance music as a cover up
cause there's limits to our liberties. 'Least I hope and pray that there are, cause those liberal freaks go too far.
