The big question, of course, being: will we see updated team rosters, or the return of the unstoppable Virtual Bo Jackson?
Hey, they're even throwing in "Mighty Bomb Jack" ...
Kudos all around!

First off what is being released is a compliation of old school NES titles from Tecmo(Tecmo Basketball, Mighty Bombjack, Fire-n-Ice, Solomon's Key, and Tecmo Bowl) all emulated onto a joystick/controller.
They are not for GBA or anything, it's a device that plugs into your TV directly.
JAKKS makes these joystick or contollers that are battery powered(or AC Adaptor) and plugs directly into a television's A/V ports. They have differnet NAMCO (Pac-Man, Dig Dug, etc) collections, Activision (Pitfall, etc) collections out currently. A Midway (Mortal Kombat) 'k'ollection is currently in the works as well as a Capcom collection (Mega Man)
All games are the originals with no alterations. Thus makes these not so bad. I wouldnt want my classics altered.
I'm anxious to get that Mortal Kombat one that's being worked on.
I'm still annoyed they separated MK 1 and MK 2 & 3 between the MK Deception Collector's Edition and Midway Arcade Treasures 2 disc, so buying the plug-and-play controller is a nice way to save some money.
I hope the games are emulated with some accuracy and professionally. The Atari one and the Coleco Vision one that my buddy has are basically worthless, as they are full of errors and regularly show the wrong colors, play the wrong sounds, etc... This better not be a half-assed attempt to cash in on more nostalgia.
Gravity is a contributing factor in nearly 73 percent of all accidents involving falling objects.
The NAMCO & ACTIVISION ones are prety flawless. Maybe it was the coding tranfer from which the ATARI & COLECOVISON.
I know both NAMCO & ACTIVISION signed off on the quality before JAKKS shipped them. Maybe whomever has the ownership of the original ATARI & COLECO games didn't care too much.

Oh, I didn't realize it was a rerelease. I didn't bother reading the story because well, I'm on dial up now and don't want to bother loading a new page.
I thought you meant that the Tecmo Bowl SERIES was coming back and being updated to newest generation on consoles.
Originally posted by GrimisI didn't know it left. Of course, I still have my Nintendo, my Tecmo Bowl, and my Tecmo Super Bowl.
OH HELL YEAH. Grimis, next time you're in my neighborhood, IT'S ON. You will FEAR Bob Nelson! ;-)

I will buy 5 of these, just to have Tecmo Bowl back!
Now if we can just get an updated one made for the GBA or DS, I could die a happy man. It will be nice to see Jerry Rice, Tim Brown, and Vinny Testaverde back in all their 8-bit glory.
I hope the Bears vs. Bears code glitch is in there also.

But if it's only a one-player game (as Guru Zim brought up), then it's not really an "exact replica," is it?

Is this not a "TV Games" item? All of these that I have seen have been a single controller with a set of inputs for the TV. Are they making these where they link together now?
Willful ignorance of science is not commendable. Refusing to learn the difference between a credible source and a shill is criminally stupid.

Apparently so. I believe the same will be said for the MIDWAY collection (Mortal Kombats, etc), DISNEY, WORLD POKER, etc.
Look at the collections out now none of them really NEED to be played as 2 players, as the library of licenses grows so will the TV Games products

At Best Buy yesterday I saw a Tetris TV games type thing that came with two controllers for two players, so it would not surprise me if this ended up being two player as well.
I have seen people setup GoFundMe's for just straight up "Help me pay my bills!" so I'm sure more people would be willing to get behind sending you to Vegas, to report on the Con ;)
