There, I admitted it. The problem is, like AngryJohnny said, that they DID NOT follow up on anything set up in the pilot. Contrast that with the pilots for Scrubs, My Name is Earl, Arrested Development and/or The Office, which all nicely set up a bunch of plots and subplots and then went through with them.
The cast's pretty good, but seem to have NOTHING to work with. Apparently NBC's already cut this one loose, but are just airing the shows to get rid of them.

This show is totally and completely going to be my guilty pleasure. Well, for the next week or two, since AngryJohnny and I seem to be the only two W's that actually enjoy this show. While I totally agree that the the main character is weak in a lot of ways, most of what he comes out with cracks me up - same with Phil Hendrie. In a simple way, it works for me, anyway.
Never make fun of a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes. That way, you'll be a mile away, AND you'll have his shoes!
Phil was talking about the show on the radio the other night and he said a few things:
1. Cut back on the laugh track. Just a bit at least.
2. This ain't Arrested Development, it's a different type of show. This is simple one liners with a laugh track. They are following a different formula and either you like that type of thing or you don't.
3. He wants the network to back off just a little bit and let them do a little more stuff, in terms of jokes. Apparently they are being super picky on words they can say or types of jokes and he feels it leaves them handcuffed with lame stuff.
4. Stop messing with it. Pick a night, and leave it there, give it some time and see what happens. If the ratings dip one week, don't go trying to change everything around. Leave the show alone and let it flop or succeed on it's own.
Anyway, you can kinda tell he doesn't think this is going to work out that well. I honestly think if the show was focused on his character instead that it would be way better than what it is.
I just found out Phil Hendrie was on this show and I'm a huge Hendrie fan. So who does Phil play and does he have a good recurring role or character? Is the character similar to any of the characters he plays on the radio?
When he played Free Waterfall Jr. on Futurama, that was basically Phil doing Jeff Dowder.
Seth MacFarlane's loving his "walk on the beach" scenes. This is like the second or third time it's come up tonight. This was pretty good. Had some good moments, though I don't think I got a bigger laugh than I did with the CIA mouse.
