| #1 Posted on 13.11.02 1108.29 | Ok... did anyone else notice that during the lead in before the bikini contest last night, Tazz let loose with a very Lawler like "Tomatoes!" (Puppies!) before they cut to commercial? Was that a dig? Was that to make Tazz more like the King? Am I crazy?

I don't know if that's really a dig or not, but I'm guessing "not" because it seems like it's just Tazz having fun.
Of course he is currently doing Lawler's old bikini contest gimmick, so who knows.
Since everyone else is doing it (ok, not EVERYONE, but...)

| #5 Posted on 13.11.02 1459.41 | Tazz's "tomato" isn't the same as Lawler's "puppies". "Tomato" is Tazz slang for a sexy woman. He's been using that since he first started commentating on "Sunday Night Heat" even before he was on SmackDown.
By the way, does anyone else remember how Lawler got started with that "Puppies" stuff? I know Road Dogg said it first to Debra back when the New Age Outlaws were feuding with Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart but, I can't remember why he said it and now, I wish he hadn't said it for Lawler to steal.
I'll just blame that on Steve McMichael for bringing Debra into wrestling. For the record, I also blame Steve McMichael for devaluing the Horsemen legacy, creating the egomaniac Goldberg, and the downfall of Steve Austin. It might not make sense but, it gives me someone to place all the blame on. | Pool-Boy

I think you're right about that. I also remember Goldust asking to see "Little Debbie's snack cakes".
I understand why you would be concerned about Tazz going to ruin like Lawler did. I remember when Lawler and Jim Ross were excellent. Now, Ross is heading into Tony Schiavone level and Lawler is just annoying. The last thing we need is Tazz learning from Lawler.

| #8 Posted on 13.11.02 1908.30 | You guys can get concerned, but I've noticed that if Tazz makes a Lawler like comment, its usually only once, and it doesn't have the pedophile vibe. AND he goes back to calling the match and gives the women props for being out there wrestling.

| #9 Posted on 13.11.02 2218.35 | Yeah I don't have much of a problem with Tazz at all. Yes he throws in the tomatoes line, but it's not his focus like Lawler.
Tomatoes seem more like a slang for chick or babe. (like 5th horseman said) Which I don't have much of a problem with. Chicks can still fight... Lawler puppies is just focus on one thing "look her breasts" and nothing else. I'm just bothered by that a whole lot more
Plus the last PPV shows Tazz puts the girls over. During Torrie/ Dawn he kept saying "Oh Dawn is really surprising me" and putting Torrie's move not matter how basic over pretty good as well. Lawler never or hardly does that/

| #10 Posted on 13.11.02 2322.04 | Yup, 5th Horseman & NetHack have the meaning of "tomato" exactly right. (I'm thinking its a 1940's term. Where are our english major etymologists when we need them?) If I heard Tazz refer to me as "a tomato", I'd give him an evil smirk. But its clearly complementary, & refers to the whole (female) person.
If Lawler referenced me with a "Look at those puppies", I'd be most inclined to slap his face. At best, he'd get a disgusted snarl. Clearly, to Jerry, I am nothing but my boobs. And that's all that he finds the need to address. (Oh, sorry -- legs, too. Either legs or boobs defines a woman for Jerry. Charming.)

And don't forget bringing in Pepe the Dog as a color commentator. Interesting question: Would WCW still exist if No Sold Berg hadn't been 'injured' prior to Starrcade '97, when he was going to face McMichael in the Super Bowl Ring match, thus avoiding a PPV loss? His ego might not be where it is today, and he wouldn't have buried the entire roster going for a winning streak.

We've just got different tastes. I've always liked Joey Styles and thought Mike Tenay was kind of bland. Styles almost always worked alone, which impressed me more. | #20 Posted on 15.11.02 1741.58 | What I like about Tazz is when he's hosting a TnA segment he's got the sarcastic feel to him. Like when he said "Hey shouldn't I be hosting a bikini contest about now" after 3 weeks of that and finally having a regular match... Lawler on the other hand thinks it's the most important aspect of any woman and maybe the most important part of the entire show.
I just saw the video of the bikini contest from Tuesday (come on I had no choice. Trish looked amazing) and I liked Tazz's interplay with Trish. Tazz sarcastically said "Well Trish I know this might be the most important moment of your wrestling career" Trish smiled and kinda rolled her eyes, Tazz then said "Well maybe not"... I thought that was amazing on his part. And showed her total respect. That's the reason I like Tazz so much and there's the big difference Lawler. Lawler would have no respect for her wrestling and he'd put over her in a bikini as the most important thing, Tazz knows the WWE portrays Trish as a fighter as well and respects her as such
On to the other sub-subject that broke off here. I like Styles. The guy called CW Anderson matches with passion, that has to count for something (lol). I really liked the team of Styles & Cyrus.
For RSPW (which I haven't done yet) I'm not a Ross hater but Cole has really stepped up and it is too close to call for #1 (who would have guessed just 6 months ago)... Colour guy I put Tazz-1, Raven-2 just because Tazz called more and think deserves it.
