Just a note for boxing fans, Taylor is fighting tonight on HBO and they are doing a rule change that has me interested. They will have the ring annoucer say the scores after the fourth and eighth rounds. Now chances are this won't go 12 so it won't matter, but I like the idea. Be interesting to see if they keep doing it and what impact it would have on fights.
Well it actually went all 12 rounds and I was damn surprised by that. Ouma has a hell of a chin. There were a few uppercuts that should have knocked him the fuck out...So who is out there that would give Taylor a good fight except for Winky?

I was impressed that Jermaine kept fighting up until the end, but I don't think Emanuel Steward would want him to develop any bad habits by coasting with that lead. It was kind of a downer to hear, even though I totally agreed, that he was up 4-0 on all three cards after four rounds, since Ouma isn't a one-punch KO-guy.
Andre Berto is as good of a prospect as there is. If you decide to watch this OnDemand make sure you catch the first fight.
Holy fuck shit motherfucker shit. Read comics. Fuck shit shit fuck shit I sold out when I did my job. Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck. Sorry had to do it....

Yeah Taylor was impressive but honestly I was very impressed with Ouma as well. I mean he got whipped but showed a great chin and that he was beyond his normal weight. If he drops back down he should be a top fighter for a while.
Berto sure does have some power to him. Like to see what he can do in a couple of years.
Taylor has to fight Winky again. Hopefully soon, but I doubt it'll happen quickly if it does. Shame.
As for the scoring, I like it. Sure this was a lopsided fight but it didn't stop either guy from doing what they would anyway. I think Ouma tried to step it up after the scores were announced heading into round five but quickly realized it was not going to happen that way.
I think it would be just awesome in a close fight to have both guys know it was almost a tie heading into the last few rounds. I hope they keep it up. Though in this case it took all drama out of the after fight winner annoucement. Not that it would have been in doubt anyway.
And can we kill Merchant and Lewis please? I mean jesus do they both suck. I've always hated Larry for his mean spirited, jerky I know more than anyone attitude but now he's getting old and takes forever to make his silly points. Lampley kept finishing sentences for him and Lewis. Lewis more because he couldn't manage to think of words. Any words. He adds zero to the show. At least George Foreman was entertaining at times.
I kind of like Larry Merchant. If I were a boxer I'd hate him, but as a viewer I kind of dig his approach. The only thing that really bugs me about him is that it takes him half an hour to make a point, which are usually wrong. Lampley bugs me a lot more. But Lennox is the absolute worst. He adds nothing, has to be led into any comments by Lampley, and if you took the words "absolutely" and "definitely" out of his vocabulary would be a mute.
I say hire Emmanual Stewart for all the broadcasts. That guy's a genius. My biggest complaint is that he's so sharp he'll spoil the broadcasts. I can't count the amount of times he's called pretty close to the exact result of the bout and the way it would go after seeing a minute and a half of the match. it's uncanny.

Why are the '76 Raiders on that list? As a lifelong Raiders fan who thought Ken Stabler, Fred Biletnikoff, Ted Hendricks, and the gang were all super heroes I can't personally fathom the hate. John Madden was a likeable coach.
