With a 7-2 home victory over the Minnesota Twins, the AL East-leading Tampa Bay Rays officially
the first playoff berth in the 11-year history of the franchise.
Their next challenge, naturally, will be to try and stave off the Red Sox and win the division. We'll see how that goes.
The Rays became only the second AL team-- and 11th overall-- to go from last place to a playoff berth in successive years.

Even more impressive when you consider losing Crawford and Longoria for extended periods of time.

From the Baltimore Sun... Sidney Ponson didn't take the same flight as the other Orioles. He left last night for his native Aruba, where he'll be knighted tomorrow by the queen of the Netherlands. Aruba is a dependency of the Netherlands.
