I happened to stumble across the local theatre this weekend, and I thought lets check out a film. I had a few choices, Dawn of the Dead, Taking Lives, and othes. I passed on Dawn of the Dead for a few reasons, but mainly I figured it would suck....but I guess I was wrong.
Anyways, Taking Lives it was. And it was a fantastic choice. Great suspense and Ethan Hawke does a masterful job. For those who wanted to see Kiefer Sutherland, well, you will see him, for about 5 minutes that is all. Seems he is taking alot of "Bit" parts. Phonebooth comes to mind.
Oh, and you get to see Angelina Jolie's boobies....and they are some nice boobies to boot.
Story line is great, although it takes a while to get going. Most of it was filmed in Montreal so those who are familiar with the city will see a lot of local landmarks.
I can't see it winning many awards, actually none...but...it is worth the $$$ to check it out.

I saw this too, and while it held my interest for this first hour (particularly the bad-ass opening, and I'm not talking about the se7en rip-off credits), it stumbles head-first into the same genre cliches I've seen several times before. The previews for this film also ruined at least two potential surprises, including the "big twist", because I kept waiting for a scene from the trailer, and knew that it wasn't resolved until that scene came up.
The ending feels tacked on, I would guess that either the screenwriters didn't feel comfortable with the book's ending (I haven't read it, but they apparently did a hack job, seeing as how Jolie's character isn't in the book), and felt the need to end it on a "happy" note.
You think WWE now is bad? Some of us had to live through 1993-1996!
If you wanted to see Angelina Jolie's boobies, why not go to walmart and get GIA for a measly $5.50. You get to see her all strung out and crack whore like as well, you get to keep the film, and you pay about $3.00 less then at the theatre.
