I don't understand why everyone complains about Taker no-selling, so much: it's part of his gimmick.

Taker is suppossed to be a huge, unstoppable moster. At one point, he was rumored to have supernatural powers. The same goes for Kane. These guys SHOULD no-sell sometimes.

I'm not saying that they should never get pinned, but the no-selling makes it fun. When Kane got whacked with a chairshot from Christian on Raw, did you want to see him go down for ten minutes? No. You want a monster to just get pissed off.

When someone beats UT in a big match, it's usually after using some psychology. When you work the knee enough on one of the brothers, he'll start to limp around and you can take him down to the mat where he loses his size advantage. That's just how it works.

An old(er) time promoter had an article on the Observer a few days ago in which he stated that WWE's use of the Big Show was the worst misuse of a giant he'd ever seen. He's right. If you have a giant, you have to make him hard to beat. Nobody jobs to the Big Show anymore. UT and Kane are giants, too. Beating them should be an accomplishment.

A lot of you complained that Brock over-sold UT and HHH's offense on Raw. Is that better than no-selling? I don't think so.

The Sham sez: "When someone beats UT in a big match, it's usually after using some psychology. When you work the knee enough on one of the brothers, he'll start to limp around and you can take him down to the mat where he loses his size advantage. That's just how it works."

I'm not one of the many UT haters on the board, but I have to admit that seeing him completely no-sell the combined submission finishers of Angle and Benoit (both of which are mat-based, and should thereby rob Taker of his size advantage). I had less of a problem seeing UT bounce back up from the Angle/Olympic Slam and pin Benoit seconds later. Sham is right, he's a monster against whom your run of the mill finishers don't work. That's just his character--deal with it folks.

Wrestling is fake, y'know. They could give him Kwee Wee's character tomorrow if they felt like it. The question is whether it's in WWE's best interest for him to have this character.

Geez Louize--

I thought the Triple threat was PPV quality. I'm glad Taker performed the way he did, because jobbing to HHH was fuckin weak, and it made Taker look like a punk. Face it, people can complain all they want about his character, his "no selling" blah, blah, blah, but the bottom line is, he puts asses in seats and pops the crowd and gets heat. Boom.

If Smackdown wasn't spoiled (which I hove no problem with), I'm sure folks would've marked like crazy. Hats off to Undertaker, because guaren-DAMN-teed, once he's gone, EVERYBODY wil be saying "You remeber when...!".

Does he put asses in seats? Does he have the skills to pay the bills, as it were? Have you looked at his buyrates or the TV ratings his main event matches draw? Have you listened to the crowds while the matches are going on? Taker's through, has been for a while. Anyone else remember when he was talking retirement circa 9/00? This wasn't exactly what I had in mind by him not talking it anymore...

Undead zombies should no-sell. Fat bikers shouldn't.

And how many asses were in the seats at WM XIII?? Any more main events like that and we'd all be watching Monday Night Football.

I have no problem with building him up to feed to Brock. Brock needs to go over the established talent, and Undertaker is about as established as it gets. People who get World Title matches usually win on their way to the match. I think WWE is doing the right thing here (assuming that UT does ultimately job clean to Brock).

Taker was scheduled to win the match by the bookers and writers. Was he supposed to go against that decision and tap to the crossface/anklelock? That wouldn't go over so well with Vince. Maybe we should be faulting Angle for applying his hold when the crossface was already on. He knew Taker was going to win the match, so why create that situation?

Why not have Taker pushed again, if only for the sake of putting Brock and others over in the near future? UT can be used to rub other wrestlers (in theory) before his inevitable departure. Granted, though I know his character is the Dead Man, I can't believe him NOT tapping to two submissions, only to win the match clean. For goodness' sake, Taker wasn't even selling the moves afterward!

And... IF indeed UT still has his powers from beyond the grave (And why SHOULDN'T he?), why couldn't the announce team of Cole/Tazz imply that during the match? At least the viewers at home could say, "Ohhhh. I see." So, the responsibility doesn't solely lie in Taker's lap or the bookers' laps. Cole and Tazz should be aware enough to cover something like that.

WM 13? You mean in early 1997 when WCW was whippin' the WWF's ass? I am not sure you can blame that one on Taker, Asteroidboy. ;-) Or if you do, give at least half the blame to Sid, who no-showed the press conference for the PPV and otherwise didn't do his job as defending champ.

Hey, you don't like Taker--it's your right. I have no problem with that whatsoever, especially since you usually express yourself well. Articulate opinions are hard to come by. But be fair. After all, this is a *wrestling board*--we don't want to give ourselves a bad rep, do we? ;-)

Maybe I'm way off, but I don't think Cole and Tazz said anything about it because 90% of the people watching didn't give a flying damn that Taker no-sold those finishers (and he didn't by the way, dude was down for a good bit, looked like he was passed out to me).

And yes, 90% is a BobHollySTILLRulestimation. It is not a set figure, it's just my guess. It's probably more like 86.532838485%, but that wouldn't look at good.
