Let me join the Mike Martz dislike train. After the Monday night game he points out that he was disappointed in Trung Candidate. Nevermind the grocery bagger threw 4 INT's. Blame the back-up RB.

Well, that's the problem with the Rams offense: it's really Hail Mary based. The whole "use Faulk more" thing runs counter to how they win ballgames. Don't forget how they beat Tampa Bay for the NFC title in January 2000 (the long pass barely in bounds) or the Super Bowl a week later (the long pass to Bruce.) With less targets to pull down his lobs, you get more INTs. I'm not saying Warner is blameless; he needs to adjust and run a more normal offense. But interceptions are a part of his game.

Besides, no one in St. Louis cares; Cards 13, D-Backs 1. Hopefully next week will be similar...when it actually means something.

They looked so good in the first drive last night. After that????

I know everyone says Warner is OK, but how many NFL QB's throw that many dead ducks in 1 game. How many times was the ball wobbling uncontrollably when it left his hand? (not including the times he was hit) That is not normal for a QB at that level.

Losing Faulk certainly hurt, but they were already looking in trouble when he went down.

Canidate was pretty horrible when he was in. Certainly in comparison to what he was able to do last year when Faulk was out. On 1 of Warners INTs it was to Canidate and he never looked back to the ball. Their offensive timing is so off.

Give the Bucs D full credit for this one. 5 sacks, 4 Ints and multiple pressures and hits on Warner.

0-3... How long until we see Jamie Martin???

I see 3 major problems:

1. The offensive line is bad. When teams can rush 3 guys and pressure the QB that is a bad sign. Unfortunately, that problem won't be addressed until the offseason and defensive coordinators are salivating right now.

2. Warner is getting hit way to often. See point 1 because it is affecting his game. Forget the thumb, it looks like he is scared and waiting to get hit so he is rushing his throws.

3. Teams know that one of the keys to beating the Rams is to hit the WR's and keep hitting them all game long. Every time they catch the ball they get popped almost immediately. After a few weeks the receivers get tentative and mentally start to think about where the hit will be coming from after they catch the pass.

You could almost compare this to hockey where teams say that you hit teams and play them physical in the first two periods in order to soften them up in the third.

I'm not sure the O-line is completely to blame here. Part of the reason the 3-man rush works is because it allows the defense to put more guys in coverage, which in turn makes it harder for the QB to find a receiver, leading him to take more time, which in turn gives those three men more time to get to the QB. At the same time, Simeon Rice just waltzed in untouched a couple of times.

The Rams receivers need to step up their game for sure, but part of their trouble is that without a basic running game to at least keep the opposing defense honest, you're going to get what you had last night: pressures, sacks, and interceptions.

A more complete and together team than the Bucs might have really knocked them sideways.

Edit: I just watched a ``highlights'' package from MNF. evilwaldo is right: the Rams' O-line was just sad last night.

While Martz Warner and the Oline all deserve some blame where were the receivers. Bruce hasn't looked the same in a year and a half, and now without Az around to spread the field he isn't getting the soft coverage anymore and just isn't getting open. Holt is the only receiver who is showing up every week and when you drop 8 he is going to have trouble beating the coverage. The Rams need to force the run behind Pace (running is half attitude, take a look at how Miami’s line is run blocking this year) and get a second receiver to step up.

They have to have a run game. Faulk has been an adequate pass receiver but there has been hardly no run until gordon monday. We need to improve that and balance the offense. There is a reason Faulk was the mvp. Use him.

I just LOVED Martz's reaction at the game-winning field goal. That blank look of, "Gee, I just lost and I don't really give a flying shit" will really rally the troops at Rams Park this week. Joe Buck described it best: "The look of...nothing."

But who the fuck cares? Morris v. Johnson, Bank One Ballpark, Tuesday @ 10 cdt. Mr. Martz, St. Louis will get back to caring about you in about one month...maybe.
