While I was rooting today for the Rams (since I hate the Giants more), I do love kharma coming back to whack Martz (and Brian Billick).

Someone this morining on the radio (either ESPN or FOX) called Martz "the Bobby Valentine of Football."

That SO sums it up for me.

You're all so WONDERFUL. Why did they ever have to remove you from the continuity? You'd have made for MARVELOUS stories. You WILL make marvelous stories. And the FIRST story of the new world will be a story of REVENGE! -- The Psycho Pirate, Animal Man 23, May 1990.

It thrills me to no end to see St. Louis losing.

Honestly, I can't stand that team, so Huzzah for anything that knocks them down a peg.

Seriously, what the Rams need right now is Dick Vermeil. It pissed me off to no end when the refs blew the fumble call in the Giants red zone (which did not cost St. Louis the game; I never blame a loss on a call, even the 1985 World Series) and Martz just shook his head, like, "Oh well, I guess that's bad for us." Dude, get PISSED, like Fassel did when the Rams were obviously offside and it wasn't called.

Martz has no passion. It's bad enough that he can't handle calling a game, can't manage time outs and is cocky to no end, but he just doesn't seem to give a damn. Like he's got his Super Bowl ring, even as an assistant, so who cares if they win as long as he gets paid. I'm not asking for Earl Weaver-type theatrics here, but throw me a friggin bone, Mike.

People make fun of Vermeil's crying, but at least he showed emotion. Martz is a bloody robot, and it's part of the reason this team is oh-and-two.

At this point, I don't think that many people are going to dispute you, Yen.

One minor quibble: Cris Collinsworth, just ACCEPT that MAYBE the Giants's secondary is THAT GOOD. Not every incompletion is because of Warner's thumb... hell, your graphics guys knew that when they kept putting up Will Peterson's stats. On the last pick, it looked like a perfect pass where the receiver blew his route. Didn't look like any thumb issues to me.

Uh, uh. Never going to happen.

When sports broadcasters decide to get on somebody's gravy train, they will ride it until there's no tomorrow. Kurt Warner is one of those guys who in their eyes can do ABSOLUTELY no wrong, because he's the greatest quarterback ever!! And if you don't believe that, you're foolish! (I happen to believe that Warner is a decent to fair quarterback who landed himself on a good team, and is just trying to ride it out which I respect him for, I suppose). It's the same way with Bret Farve, who is an good quarterback who happens to throw VERY awful passes when he gets over excited or pissed off. Yet announcers (Madden is especially guilty about this) will go out of their way to blame everyone else but Farve for his mistakes. It's just the nature of football. Some people can do no wrong (Warner, Faulk, Farve) and some people get panned even when they do well (New England springs to mind).

Hey...That reminds me of wrestling fans and their opinions on certain wrestlers...but I suppose that's a story for another folder.

Big difference between Martz and Switzer. Switzer has championships as a head coach in college and the pros. Martz has never won anything as a head coach. More like Mike Martz meet Ron Erhardt.

God Bless my beloved Giants.

I do enjoy the Mike Martz/Jason Sehorn feud. Because Martz is completely right about that.

Sehorn is the King of taking a deflection and returning it for a TD and then acting like he is the greatest defensive back ever. Stupid supermodel

My list of Giant hate of the moment

1) Ron Dayne
2) Jason Sehorn
3) Kerry Collins

Ron Dayne is right on top for me, too. Pick a hole and hit it, ferchrissakes! Even Aikman and Collinsworth were seeing this.

As for Sehorn: he's toasty. You're right in that he makes the play yesterday only because someone else deflected it to him. On the other hand, he could have dropped it!

As for Collins, he really scares me. You just know he's going to screw something up.

Tops for me is Tiki Barber. He is always giving 100%. I like him tons.

I'm a Giants fan, but Warren Sapp was right, Sehorn is overrated.

I guess that's what happens when you marry someone from Law and Order.

I do like the Martz-Sehorn feud, its way better than the Ventura- Hitman coach feud.

I think Collins has been one of the NFL's top QBs so far this season. He has out-performed Warner big time.

Oh, well, yeah, Salami, but wait until he hits a bad streak (and he probably will).

As for Dayne, why couldn't they put him at FB in camp? They've had two seasons of watching him not live up to his Heisman hype. If they keep him around after this year, you think he could make it as a FB?

I think I tried to make that point last week.

It is good to see kharma bite him in the tail. It is easy to coach a team that is winning. But, try to come from behind? That is where Martz gets exposed as a bad head coach.

Sunday is going to be very interesting. It is a must win game for the Rams or else this is going to be a very long year.

It's true that Sehorn is overrated by many. But at the same time he's underrated by many as well. In all truth, he's an average CB, who makes a nice play on occasion. I still think that he's never fully recovered from screwing up his leg in the preseason game against the Jets in 98.

Dayne has proven to be a total flop. He'll be gone next year. 1st round busts with the Giants usually get 3 years to prove themselves before getting tossed aside(Thomas Lewis anyone?)

I don't quite understand the Collins hate, Phil. He's been good this year so far. And 2 of the INTs against SF were not his fault.

If there's one Giant on my hate list, it's Ron Dixon. 3 years in this league and he's still dumb as a stump.

What the Rams need is to can Martz and start over. Of course that's highly likely after the seasons since I do believe(please correct me if I'm wrong) that the Rams head to cap hell at the end of the season. Won't make any sense to pay Martz the big bucks to oversee that construction zone.

The real questions is who replaces Martz? Shouldn't be Marvin Lewis, since he'll command a lot of bucks. But they should get either a good, but not as well known NFL assistant, or come up with a good college coach like Bob Pruett from Marshall or Larry Coker from Miami(though I doubt he'd leave the program).

My Kerry Collins hate comes from the fact that he has WAY too many turnovers, constantly makes bad decisions and isn't afraid to get scared in the pocket (and Dean will also point out to you that he is a quitter).

Just because he has thrown for 300 yards in two games isn't going to make me forget the record breaking number of fumbles he had last year. The games against St. Louis and Philly that he cost us last year.

He has thrown for 649 yards and exactly ONE touchdown. I won't harp on the 4 INTs since most have been deflections.

But I will harp on the play where he didn't see the world's most wide open receiver in Tiki Barber and then needed a gift call from the refs to not have a fumble called.

Ron Dixon is #4 on my list. 4.1 speed my ass. THEN HE SHOULD HAVE FREAKIN SCORED AGAINST THE EAGLES LAST YEAR!!!! Sorry, I am still amazingly pissed off about that. Oh - and Dixon shouldn't be scared of Mother Nature either.

But, to bring this all back to Mike Martz. In Tuesday Morning QB today - Click Here - there is a great breakdown on some of the quality personel moves that Martz has made. The entire column is great - scroll maybe about 3/4 of the way down to find the Martz stuff.

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa

Everyone is writing off the Rams and Martz a little quickly, don't you think.

2 weeks does not a season make. Just ask the Patriots last year!!! (0-2 to start, 1-3 after 4 weeks)

With Tampa this week and the Cowboys next, this team could be 1-3 too. I still don't want to play them. They just have not hit their stride yet IMO. They will be there at the end, believe it!!! And Martz won't be going anywhere...

Defensive coordinators have figured out that if you look the Rams in the eye, punch them in the face, and stand there looking them in the eye, they blink.

The real question is whether Martz can drop his ego, realize his weaknesses, and adjust.

Defending Kerry Collins....

Despite both wide receivers facing constant double teams, a non existant tight end and a running game hampered by injuries, Collins threw for 3800 yards last year and almost won the division. Now, for the first time since 1988 the Giants have a legitimate offense, with playmakers at every position. Collins is going to put up tremendous numbers this year, simply because there is talent surrounding him.

As far as the lack of TDs, the New York press this week reported that the team is FINALLY going to use the spread wide formation, moving Tiki to wide receiver and Dayne in the backfield. When there's 8 guys in the box it gets hard to score. With the defense spread hopefully the red zone numbers will increase.

I can't excuse the fumble problem, but so far so good this year.

How can ANYONE blame Collins for the Rams loss last year?? Joe Jurivicious CAUGHT the ball at the 22 yard line only to have it stripped out!! If Joe holds on, Anderson kicks the field goal, Giants win and the entire season changes. The ball was in his hands and he lost it, his fault not Kerry's.

I'm not saying Kerry Collins is a top 5 quarterback. But I do think he's in the top 10 and this year will prove it. And any Giants fan who bitches about Collins obviously does not remember Dave Brown, Kent Graham or Tommy Maddox!!!
