Seems I'm fitting right in with the other left-wing libertarians on this board. I don't look anything like Gandhi, though.

... Although I was born and raised in a predominately conservative household, I think I'm actually becoming more of a liberal with each passing year. This does, in fact, frighten me a little bit.

Hmmm...I'm more of a Leftist than anyone else here!

However, I don't know how accurate it can be when my initial answer to many of the questions was "depends on the circumstances".

Anyways, I figured that this is a good way to make my first contribution to the Politics forum.

Utilizing the belief system and work ethic (Mattributes) of THE Matt Hardy to create a better life for yourself by fulfilling your goals and dreams. Mattitude is a quality that can help anyone -- regardless of background or past -- to achieve success. You just have to make it a lifestyle, a mindset, a religion. Mattitude, is something that can not be taught or learned. Mattitude is something that burns within. In the ring, Mattitude is the intangible, the x-factor, that gives me an advantage over everyone else.

I'm sure there have to be more than just us, though if they are I'm claiming the name "Four Horsemen of Capitalism" for effect.

Hey, don't leave me with the lefties! I'm a little surprised my 1.69 on the authoritarian scale is the highest; it seems kinda low. Does that make me the resident "fascist"? haha...

Your analogy is similar to:

"They already have cars that you can drive, why not blenders?"
"I can already write with my hands, why not my pancreas?"
"They already have beef that I can eat, why not granite?"

-- my new favorite quote from Slashdot comments.

This must make me a very evil person!
Seriously, I could honestly apply about two-thirds of those descriptions to all of the ardent conservatives I have met and/or witnessed in my life.

I guess I don't have much faith that our increasingly impersonal society will take care of its citizens on its own. I do still have faith that, despite all of its abuses and inefficiencies, our "safety net" system is not beyond redemption. If all policians of all parties would stop focusing on increasing their own power, they could find a way to fix things before they get even worse. Unfortunately, my faith that this will actually happen wanes every day. If that makes me a Liberal, then so be it.

Hmm, I'm closer to Robin Cook today. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. (Considering that I don't know who Robin Cook is...does she write novels?)

This quote is great:

If we recognise that this is essentially an economic line it's fine, as far as it goes. We can show, for example, Stalin, Mao Tse Tung and Pol Pot, with their commitment to a totally controlled economy, on the hard left. Socialists like Mahatma Gandhi and Robert Mugabe would occupy a less extreme leftist position.

They compare Gandhi and MUGABE? I am more interested in Mugabe's position on torturing and slaughtering white farmers than I am on his other economic initiatives.

That said, I scored:

Economic Left/Right: 7.75
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -1.08

I am almost exactly next to Milton Friedman on that graph. Woo hah. Hell, my test results make Grimis look like Al Gore. And I want to be the 5th Horseman of Capitalism, maybe when one of you turns heel/left.

Edit: Also worth noting there are more mass-murderers and dictators on the left. Coincidence...?

Liberal leftist. Not surprised.

Almost RIGHT in the middle. Guess my Catholic morals and offbeat economic thoughts canceled each other out pretty much.
