Imagine how it was, live and right there in the Bell Centre. Place went positively looney for a few seconds.

I know this has been firmly established as the prevailing reaction, but when that promo aired, I about PISSED MY PANTS in disbelief and craziness. It reminded me so much of those Mysterio "he's coming" promos.

Then disappointment.

Yeah, there was major freaking/marking out going on in my house to.. then we got all pissed off when we realized what it was.

Man, I always knew Vince was evil, but was it really necessary to manipulate us like that? Booooooo!

It's not just Montreal and J.R., Vince, and Hebner that get "you screwed Bret" chants. Tammy Sytch also got some of those very same chants at the indy (MLW) show in NYC a few weeks ago!

Of course, those were pretty tame compared to some of the other shit that got chanted. I really don't know why she comes out anymore. It completely distracted from the Cnadido/Funk match also.

One more voice in the "what the....HOLY SHIT....Aw dammit!" camp when they saw that promo here. For a couple of seconds I thought it was going to bring closure to the last truly hanging thread from this Golden Age of wrestling. WWE has basically absorbed WCW and ECW, bringing Paul and Eric with them. The NWO finally returned, bringing that to its final conclusion...they took over, and now they came home. Shawn Michaels finally made his return to deal with the man who took over the Clique/DX in his absence. This is the last thing out there. All the fake and real stories have come full circle except for Bret stepping one more time into a WWE ring and demanding in some form or another his vindication for the way he was treated that November nite. I understand why he would never want to, and I respect that, but as a wrestling fan, I still want to see it one more time.

Maybe we can win this week:

I haven't checked the list but I'm betting 7/22/02 was the day he was picked as Wiener Of The Day. Either that, or he was -really- happy The Rock won the Undisputed Title at Vengeance the night before.

Yes, I fully know of the dilution of what that phrase means these days. But it is good to know, anyway, that The Tokyo Monster Kahagas, who is a great deal of fun to watch is the new champion.
