I've been phoning it in with these threads lately, huh? Well, that's okay because WWE phoned in this show, as is customary for the Smackdown before Wrestlemania. I guess they always get the buyrate, but shouldn't the go-home show be more than extended recap segments and Axxess plugs?

There were two matches and a promo.

THE RYBACK d. PRIMO and EPICO w/ROSA MENDES: About what you'd expect. During the Colons entrance, they cut to Michael Cole and JBL from Axxess saying that they weren't at Smackdown tonight, and while running highlights from Axxess they showed Rosa Mendes posing with a fan at the same time that the arena feed was showing Rosa Mendes up on the ring apron. I think they probably could've picked a more thought out highlight from Axxess if they wanted to make people think Smackdown was airing live.

Damien Sandow, Cody Rhodes and the Bella Twins impersonated Brodus Clay, Sweet T and the Funkadactyls. It looked really strange having Sandow dancing around like an idiot, but once they got in the ring and started talking he was normal Damien running down his Wrestlemania opposition. The real articles showed up, of course, clearing the ring of impostors.

JACK SWAGGER w/ZEB COLTER d. KOFI KINGSTON: Kofi got more offense than one might think given that Swagger's going into a World Title match on Sunday and Kofi's not on the card. Still, Swagger got the submission victory.

In between those few arena segments we got a lot of video packages, Axxess footage and JBL mocking Michael Cole.

So is anyone more likely to order Wrestlemania because of this show?

I watched the first half hour or so, realized it was nothing but a clip show, and turned the TV off. I guess if I'm being fair, I'm not any less likely to order WrestleMania than I was before the show, but no, this was not a good final sales pitch.

The DVR was my friend as I FFWD-ed through the majority of the show. However, it was worth it as I have nothing but pure, unadulterated love for the Rhodes Scholars bit. That entrance was phenomenal, and Sandow selling the pyro was hilarious.

This was fantastic.

I certainly appreciate the finer points of satire. This feud is doing everything right. The heels are being perfect assholes, the faces are reacting exactly like they should. Totally looking forward to this match at WrestleMania.

I expect, nay I DEMAND, the Bellas and Team Rhodes Scholars never get their comeuppance. No comeuppance at WrestleMania, I say!

That was all amazing, especially Cody's intentionally-cheap bald cap, making him look like Tensai the Conehead.

P.S. - If you want more Sandow awesomeness, check out his tour of Axxess:

Dammit Don West and Tom O'Dell are NOT the same person! While Don West is the man and has much love from me, he sadly falls short of the all encompassing coolness of Knife Guy and former avatar of mine Mr. O'Dell.
