I think they know better and see more of the picture than we do. They've been in a lot of kitchens, so to speak, so they know when something good is cooking. The closest most of us have been is, what?--the front row? Give it a chance, friend

I just don't dig the title change on principle. I miss when winning the title was a jump-out-of-your-seat-type deal, not a, "Oh ho ho ho, I'm the champion now! Wakka wakka!"-deal. Or maybe I just miss Gorilla, Vince, and Jesse selling those titles changes.

Oh well.

Every single one of you that whines and complains will be sitting on your asses tomorrow night watching the same shit and having the same complaints. You will do this just like you do every week. You will not stop watching just because 'Wrestler A' wins a title from 'Wrestler B' only to have 'Wrestler C' come in and take the title. It doesn't matter if A = Cena, B = Punk and C = Del Rio. Shit, it wouldn't matter if A = Kane, B = Dwayne Gill and C = X=Pac. You will still watch no matter what. YOU are already hooked and YOU will continue to watch and bitch and complain no matter what they do.

But hey, you know what? Keep it up, I'm sure someone will read what you have to say and change the way the business is because of it. I'm sure some WWE executive will randomly happen upon your post on this message board and totally go back to work and have the writers and bookers put the title belts on Zack Ryder and Daniel Bryan for year long title reigns. They'll fire John Cena because he's boring and you don't like him. They'll move Randy Orton down the card to a curtain jerker. Yes, all of this will totally make the ratings skyrocket.

Forget it Josh... it's Cerebustown.

Not sure why its.specious, since meltzer.has.been.saying for weeks that was the company's goal.

Weird that no-one seems to be saying the obvious - Nash has been put in that spot in order for Punk to claim that HHH hired his best friend to do his dirty work for him. Can't put Michaels in that position, Sean Waltman spinkicking him wouldn't quite have the same impact, and Scott Hall wold probably die on his way through the crowd, so Nash it is.

Also amusing: the idea that Christian becoming a two-time world champ and going over everyone bar Orton on his brand clean as a whistle means he probably hates his job and should quit.

Great PPV, I thought. No Money In The Bank, but then what is?

According to WWE.com, by the way, Rey Mysterio gets his WWE Title rematch tonight on RAW.
Yes...they also said this LAST week on RAW.

I also all but predicted on Twitter at that time that he'd be facing champion Del Rio. (Don't believe me? http://twitter.com/CRZ/status/100749959565025282
http://twitter.com/CRZ/status/100769857162842112 ) So, you know, hooray for me.

Given that I expecting a Triple H Pedigree followed by a MiTB cash-in, the fact that that DIDN'T happen means I have to give it a thumbs up. I have no problem with something that's predictable, but when they ALSO manage to throw in some unpredictability to get there - and using Nash is brilliant and obvious in retrospect, yet NOBODY saw it coming at the time - that's good stuff. That's how I want my PPV to end.

What REALLY seems "shortsighted" is the idea that WWE should be booking to satisfy us nerds on the Internet - a demographic which has repeatedly been shown to be a much tinier subset of the WWE Universe™ than any of us would like it to be.

(At this point, I'm also naïve enough to believe that CM Punk has still one more promo in him that will make everything better... at least temporarily.)

I'm confused: did they say it was Kevin Nash by name? If so, are we totally pretending that Disel at the Royal Rumble didn't happen now?

I'll take a wait and see approach with the Punk/Cena/Del Rio situation. If it means a reformation of the Clique on TV, I'm not going to feel great about it. But if the WWE works this right, they could possibly do a great heel/face turn with Punk and/or Cena and possibly have a bunch of new, creative ways to go story line wise. Either way, I'm definitely tuning in to Raw tonight; I haven't said Raw is a must-watch for me after a PPV in a long time, not even after Wrestlemania.

Good show, I thought. Capitol Punishment, MITB and now this, WWE is on quite the hot streak for quality PPVs.

I have never laughed so hard at something on a wrestling show - and this should not go unmentioned - Steph offering to shake Punk's hand for good luck backstage, but Punk refusing because "I know where that hand's been". Absolutely hilarious, to me anyway.

Also great: Cena actually getting pissed off about something. He looked ready to smack HHH when they were jawing after the three-count.

All the matches were ok, but I hated each and every result!

Kevin Fn Nash, really?

ADR cashing in now? I mean, now? Did it have to be ... now?

Best thing about this PPV: Booker T replacing J. R., just because I'm sick of Ross.

From the Tweety:

"Kevin Nash" is the #1 trending topic (sorry Josh Matthews) in the U.S. right now. #SummerSlam is #2. (if you don't count the 'promoted' one, which I wouldn't.)

And Punk has tweaked his Twitter bio to start with "Currently mad at OZ." :)

The Nash/Punk in-ring conversation should be magnificent.

I kinda feel bad for ADR. He wins the belt, and he's overshadowed by his hitman.

Also? Broadus Clay.

I'm pretty sure we got what we wanted at the contract signing last Monday night. We got booked to once. No one on the internet should ever be able to complain again.

ADR/Punk would be better and have Cena feud with someone else. I think most of us knew this was coming and it still sucks. Oh, its Kevin Nash, how great is that. Typical WWE fanboy biased. He is TNA, he is old and only has one move, but in WWE he is awesome. Give me a break. I have no desire to relive another Steph vs. HHH storyline that killed another rising star's momentum in the name of Chris Jericho. Nor do I want to see the McMahon-Helmsley era with even more older wrestlers.

ADR's momentum was DOA the moment he landed on Raw. He is nowhere near what Miz, Punk and yes even R-Truth is bringing. He is an afterthought and yet, because they are going to his country he is world champion. Wouldn't have been easier just to put him in the main event matches? Also, I have no idea why this Mexican tour is so important? They replaced Sinn Cara for it, begging Rey to stay on even though he is injured and hot shot the title to their third or fourth string heel. Isn't their a semi civil war going on in that country between the army and the drug lords? Is that really the country to pin the hopes of international tour helping with the third quarter profits? I just don't understand the logic here.

I will tune into night to see what is going on, but there are three weeks after tonight til, we get real football on Mondays. I am also just getting into UK Top Gear and just found on Netflix which is what I did instead of ordering SummerSlam last night. They had better come up with something, because the glow of Kevin Nash will probably stop when he opens his mouth.

Nash in TNA did suck. Nash in WWE has, so far, been used twice in eight months, once for a fun nostalgia pop and once as a surprise run-in which added intrigue to a developing story. He's yet to be booked as a serious in-ring force, or won a match, or buried a division, or even said a word. He jumped a guy who'd just wrestled thirty minutes, of course he's going to look dominant. There's this thing called context - it really helps when trying to use one's critical faculties, and you should look into it.

Of the four announced matches after RAW last week, I was perfect in my predictions (The W) Four for four.

However, I didn't like the show. It would have been a daunting challenge for them to equal the out of body experience Money in the Bank was as One of the Best PPVs I've Ever Seen, and WWE wasn't really interested in turning Summerslam into The CM Punk Show, Part 2. I'm certainly glad I aborted my briefly considered plan of going to LA last minute to see the show.

I don't remember a PPV ever having as many commercial breaks. Twix. Movies coming soon. What else. It was weird. And a lot of promos. Promoslam. Plus Cee-Lo doing two songs. A lot of filler.

I was as pro-Punk going into Summerslam as I was last month and, uh, YAY, he won! Briefly, in tainted fashion. He wasn't even really "Undisputed" WWE Champion when he was announced as such. Cena's foot was on the rope. Even I dispute Punk's "win". Then Del Rio happened.

The main event booking to me felt like getting the birthday cake you said you wanted, but it looked funny, it tasted funny (and not as nearly good as the last time you had the cake, which was last month), and then the cake gets pushed in your face. (Which is a very WWE thing to do, actually. You know WWE with cakes.)

The hotshot to Del Rio did nothing for me. The Nash surprise did nothing for me. Whatever directions it all plays out in the coming weeks, as the conclusion to Summerslam last night, it left me feeling bleah.

The only thing I loved: Kelly Kelly beating Beth. That was the finish I was rooting for and I loved the execution. I thought that was the right story to tell. The obvious direction - Beth demolishing Kelly - proves nothing we don't already know and expect. Instead, Kelly fought her ass off - her facial expressions and her emotional reactions were spot on throughout - and the scrappy underdog champion shocked the overconfident, more powerful challenger. I mean: Kelly Kelly came up a counter for the Glam Slam after being pulverized by it for years. That was great. Kelly Kelly can lose the title tonight but she showed she has the capacity to cleanly beat the toughest (not-pregnant) girl on the roster. "It was like David and Goliath but this time, David won!" - Homer Simpson. K2 = Best thing in Summerslam for me.

I personally think this escalates CM Punk even more & makes him the company's top face ..

now where do they go from here? the New Corporation w/ Triple H as "Vince", Del Rio as the Rock & Nash as the muscle/enforcer ...

gotta say, that's very intriguing to me.

What I'd love to see? Triple H as....dude whose actually trying to do the right things. Maybe be a tweener, but no machinations, no plots. Have been honestly try to be a guy whose trying to do the right things. But someone is setting him up for a fall, pulling strings to make him look bad. Could lead to some nice feuds. With his shock last night he showed of Nash running in, they could be doing that.

Oh, and Nash probably attacked Punk because Punk turned down Nash's offer of protection! Also, because the internets has general disdain for Diesel. It all plays into the angle, really.

Yes. This is the only thing that matters now. I am genuinely excited for the eventual Punk vs. Nash mic showdown. As the prototype cool heel, Nash is every bit the challenge for Punk that HHH was as a guy who could submarine this thing, except that Nash can be funny when he's feeling it. Nash/Punk could be glorious. It could be a disaster. It could be a glorious disaster.

Things I hope to get out of this:
-Punk calls Nash out for complaining back stage when Dwaaaaayne did that "Beep Beep!" Diesel thing during the Rock vs. nWo angle (if it takes Punk more than two confrontatios with him to do this, I'll be shocked).

-Nash reveals himself as the Mystery GM as someone predicted here recently, but explains that he wasn't trying to be anonymous, he just didn't feel like showing up every week and it only seemed anonymous because he never figured out how to set up his Hotmail account correctly.

-Nash transitions to his rightful role at the announcer's table and we get some amazing weeks of either Kevin Nash vs. Michael Cole, or Nash and Cole as BFFs, leading to the triumphant TV return of NXT, where Nash tries to bring nWo Saturday Night vet Pistol Pez Whatley back as a contestant, only to break down in tears when he learns that Pez is no longer with us.
