Correct. However, it wouldn't shock me to see Vince say he blew it and take it away or just hand him a new belt.

I've been able to watch more of the show. Dude, can you not just enjoy a solid card that will likely be the best one of the year?

This I mostly agree with. Educated guess is that Del Rio will either be handed a new title and/or there'll be a match main eventing tonight's RAW to determine the new/interim champion (preferably not a Battle Royal).

That style, apparently, means not doing steroids (wwe.com). (Further discussion in the appropriate thread.)

They specifically pointed out that the bell never rang. See Swagger, Jack, and the numerous attempts he made before actually cashing in his briefcase post WM 26

There also was no "hand the briefcase to the ref and say 'I'm cashing in'" routine that usually accompanies a cash-in match.

I only got to see the latter half of the main event (and the intros when I made my bro-in-law rewind). I don't watch much wrestling anymore since having a kid, but MAN, was it ever cool to see a crowd that white hot. Just imagine what it felt like to be Punk in that moment.

Well, so far you've loosely hypothesized about where they're headed, criticised the old spinner belt and offered your obligatory jab at Cena.

And you've taken four posts to do it. Four posts in a thread about a show which you apparently didn't watch.

Perhaps if you watched the show then shared with us what you did or did not enjoy, such confusion could be avoided in future.

I loved it. Absolutely loved it. I liked Punk's SES run less than most but he's totally won me over the last few weeks. His "who,me?" to the "you can't wrestle" chant was tremendous, as was insane smile after decking del Rio.

Awesome night's entertainment, helped no end by a crazy hot crowd.

They're going to have Punk away from RAW for a while if they really want to sell the angle. I can see him doing a bunch of vignettes though.

Yes, because taking a shot at the spinner belt means I loathed this PPV and has nothing to do with the fact the belt over stayed its welcome after 2007. Of course, the giant clue was asking the obvious question what happens next and coming up with theories. Yep, you got me there. I have loved this storyline and I am glad Punk won, I am just excited and interested on where they go next.

Sigh.

There are times when I have to remind myself you're not being wilfully dense.

My point, and you surely can't have missed it, is when you take four posts to say nothing positive but DO offer a couple of negatives, it might give people the impression you're not enjoying things. I mean, if this winter brings us one of the greatest Super Bowls in history I assure you I won't hunt down a thread about it and spend four posts hypothesising about the 2012 season or moaning about Roger Goodell. I'll talk about the damn game.

I'm delighted you're loving it though! Thrilled even. Long may it continue.

Over on WWE (wwe.com), they're saying (among the hyperbole) that Big Show has a distal fibular fracture. Generally if they bother to trot out the latin, then it's legit. Could have been much worse if the damage had been more inside the ankle, but still, he's got a pretty major broken bone.

Is Mark Henry just to clumsy & dangerous to keep around? (Randy skirted around that question as well, in the KUPD radio interview from several weeks back.)

On the rewatch it just looks like Cena covers Punk's low landing on his bodyblock by selling a blown out leg. And then he 'shakes it off.' Pretty smooth actually. My bad.

My working theory is that Cena has a bit of torn cartilage in that knee. When you have that kind of thing, occasionally an unusual movement or twist can wrench that torn bit into the joint, effectively locking up the joint. (And it hurts like hell if you try to do anything wiht the joint.)

Depending on the circumstances, the orthopaedist can sometimes manipulate the joint to un-jam that bit, & slip it back to its (closer to) normal position. If it's something you've had for a while, you can learn how to twist your leg around to do it yourself. (Why, yes, I do type from personal experience.) If you can get the cartilage back out of the way without doing any additional damage, then you're mostly good to go. (It can still ache, & probably get some swelling, but it's not the "painfully locked in one position, & don't think of putting weight on it" thing.) Watching the way Cena slid over to the edge, let the knee dangle medially & then torque around, & then suddenly seem to be OK -- that all felt very familiar. (Bonus points for me if we ever get a report that Cena has surgery to address a torn lateral meniscus.)

So, under that theory, if John hadn't been able to self-repair the problem, it pretty much would have been a deal-breaker for the match! Good job, John!

Unbelievable atomosphere. Even in the Attitude Era where every crowd was fairly hot they rarely if ever got to this level. It actually put me in mind of Eddie's win over Brock in San Fran in '04, and that's the last time I was this engrossed by the main event match. The main event alone was enough, but those are probably the two best MITB matches I've seen in several years. Can't say enough about a match where Sheamus looked truly credible (he's come a long way) and that mask-ripping was just genius. As much as they were booing Rey, the crowd collectively gasped at the tearing off of Rey's mask. If Vince was on commentary he would have said ADR "raped Rey Mysterio of his dignity". Which is better, I suppose, than being verbally raped, like Yokozuna. The Christian/Orton match was good until that shitty finish, but with the beatdown I don't know what credibility Christian has on any level now as a heel or a face. When you consider how over he was winning it at Extreme Rules, you have to look at this as curious WTF booking. Still, it couldn't ruin a basically epic night all round. Awesome main, really interested to see how they keep it going.

Nous ne nous pouvons pas sortir.
I really do relish when they prove me wrong and I'm not sure any angle I've watched up to a PPV has been fulfilled this well since I was a child.

To recap:
-The Punk angle reaches fruition
-The right guy wins
-Cena wrestles his ass off (suck it haters)
-A babyface wins Money in the Bank
-That face is Daniel Bryan
-Big Show and Henry put on a very watchable match
-Two good ladder matches

Anybody unhappy with this show is probably incapable of being happy with anything.

It is actually possible that someday when Punk returns as the true champ and vanquishes whomever claims to be Raw champ he can run into a title carrying Daniel Bryan who has something to say about Punk's crowning himself "Greatest in the World." As much as I've wanted the brand split to continue the thought alone gives me goosebumps.

You know, if stripping his mask off is it all it takes to get Rey to cover his face with both hands and be effectively useless, one wonders why every opponent of his doesn't do that. I was actually saying out loud, "C'MON, REY! He didn't hurt you. What's more important to you, getting that contract or not showing your face?" I think that question was pretty much answered.

Insightful stuff that makes a lot of sense. Thanks.

Sure, but he and us have to believe in the mask being a super-important thing to him in order for the whole Rey Mysterio character to work and for every future mask match to matter.

It's a slow rainy day, so why not spend it cluttering CRZ's board with another ECW Recap. Before we get started I got new tires today and spent the time waiting at the K-Mart down the road. I saw a young member of the WWE Universe (age7-10?)
