New character roles for season two are starting to be filled as the writing team delivers the scripts for the new episodes. George R.R. Martin himself delivered the script for "Blackwater", a major event towards the end of the season.
Both Margaery and Brienne are major characters, though Margaery has a bit more impact in the events of season 3. Brienne is an awesome character, in more than one sense. She has pivotal moments in season 2 and is even more important in season 3. I'm not at all familiar with Christie and I've only seen a couple of episodes of The Tudors so I'm only a little familiar with Dormer.
The big casting will be Stannis Baratheon. Rumors have floated it will be Gerard Butler, but we'll see.
The Gerard Butler rumor came from an IMDB update right after the finale; the producers denied that he's in the running, but the rumor has persisted. Mark Strong and Christopher Eccleston are the other two major names being rumored for Stannis (and in Eccleston's case, also Davos Seaworth*), but there's nothing concrete for either other than "they have an accent and are bad ass". Personally, I think Strong would be a picture perfect Stannis (literally: when his head is shaved he looks like the artwork on the original cover of Clash); Eccleston would be a better Roose Bolton if you ask me.
Really pleased with the Brienne casting- Gwen Christie is a name that's been bandied about by fans since season 2 was announced, and it's cool to see them go with the fan preferred casting for a 2nd time (Dinklage being the first). I've seen a lot of people complaining that she's not ugly enough (apparently a whole lot of people got it in their head that Brienne should look like Chyna and Nicole Bass), but without all the make up and proper lighting Christie's face certainly couldn't be called much more than plain (I'm not saying she's an unattractive woman by any means, mind you). You have to figure she's going to get some of the Natalia Tena/Osha treatment on top of that. Plus she's legit tall and can actually act. A top notch choice if you ask me.
I know nothing about Natalie Dormer, but when she has brown hair she looks like she could be related to the actor who plays Loras so it's cool with me.
*- I haven't seen anyone mention him, but personally I'd like to see Henry Ian Cusick as Davos.
Not familiar with either of them, but regardless, it's great to hear season 2 production is rolling along. The cast reports to Ireland to start shooting in a couple of weeks.
Melisandre looks about right. Stannis, I don't know. When you are throwing around names like Butler, Strong and even a former Doctor then you get the guy who played Jefferson in the John Adams, its a bit of a downer. Of course, make-up and the armor will probably make him look bigger. As long as he has the acting chops to fly into a rage, he should be ok. The question is after book 3, are they still going to follow the books or go down the path they did with Tru Blood?
The Wee Baby Sheamus.
Twitter: @realjoecarfley its a bit more toned down there. A bit.

Stannis doesn't really strike me as the type to "fly into a rage". He's more bottled up, barely contained rage.
Dillane is an AMAZING actor. Check him out in The Hours. Houten's got BLACK BOOK under her belt and was great in that. And Cunningham needs to bigging up. The spot-on casting continues.
The show is changing her name from Asha to Yara. It didn't register with me they did the same to Robert Arryn in season one, changing him to Robin Arryn. Also, Robert/Robin Arryn isn't a king like EW claims, just Lord of the Vale of Arryn.
Erm, the first 40 minutes? Basically, Scofield and crew managed to slip out of the storage room and back to their work site. Then Bellick came in and sent them back to their cells.
