Yesterday, Randy Orton gave a radio interview (podcasts.doubletwist.com) on a myriad of topics, but the thing he said that raised eyebrows and rancor - and I found particularly funny, but not surprising - is when he decided to go off on Divas Champion Kelly Kelly's youthful promiscuity.

The Torch has highlights of the stuff he said (pwtorch.com) but here's the K2 stuff in a nutshell:

"Orton sounded like a typical jock talking about Kelly Kelly, saying he could name ten guys who have "method acted" with Kelly. The hosts tried to pry same names from Orton, who tried to deflect from the topic by joking it's all the big guys on the roster."

To quote Marge Simpson: "It's true! But you didn't have to say it!"

Last night, Orton took to Twitter to apologize:

Consolidated from @RandyOrton (twitter.com)
"Yesterday I put my foot in my mouth and I need to try my best to make it right. I owe Kelly K an apology. The fact that she has dated a few guys I work with doesn't make her a bad person, and is also none of my or anyone else's business. Yesterday I got caught up in a live radio interview and brought Kelly's personal life into it. It was completely uncalled for. Kelly I hope one day you can forgive me. I do however understand if that doesn't happen. Please everyone trash me all you want, but please drop this topic out of respect for Barb."

Orton actually said a lot more interesting stuff than alluding to the boys banging Kelly (topics far more worthy of being the subject of this thread) but that's the only thing he's had to apologize for (so far).

Incidentally, who are "the ten"? Off the top of MY head, I can think of Test, Batista, and Justin Gabriel.

Out of respect for K-twice and distaste for this type of tabloidy grossness I won't mention Ziggler (source: Orton on that awful show), Jericho (source: kissypictures on the internet :-/), and Punk (source: the usual rumors of saying something). Yeah she has kind of semi-public reputation, at least in the eyes of some of her colleagues (Maria and some other diva brought it up in shootz), so I only feel partially horrible for participating in this thread. High five to Kelly for scoring some intercourse sex.

And then he shit in her bag.

Orton has little room to air dirty laundry given his backstage behavior.

Is this the first time anyone has put Test and Justin Gabriel on a 'top ten' list of/for ANYTHING?

Also, is this one of those 'It's ok for a guy to fuck around with a bunch of women but when a woman fucks around with a bunch a guys...' things, cause I'm not really surprised or shocked by this.

Forget it Josh... it's Cerebustown.

The irony of any male wrestler insulting a female for sleeping with different people is outstanding when you consider the high-fives he'd get if someone announced he had slept with 10 divas.

Good for Kelly Kelly. She's a 20-something year old girl who's partying and having fun with other people who have reputations for partying and having fun. It's not the lifestyle I'd have, but I'm not going to look down on her for fitting in with the boys.

I'm much more interested in Orton basically coming out and saying the WWE's testing of him after that concussion was BS. The guy claims he had "a really bad" concussion (the latest in a long list of them apparently), and yet was miraculously cleared to wrestle just a few days later when there just happened to be a PPV.

The whole drug-overdose "I stopped breathing" thing is interesting too.

High Fives to Batista!

But yeah, "highjacking" this thread and talking about all the other stuff Orton talked about wouldn't be a bad thing.

Meh. I hardly think she should be commended for it. It's tacky when you work with those people and see them every week, and you pass four people in the course of a half-hour who have seen your goodies. As for a man being commended, meh. TV is filled with awesome, intelligent, empowered girls and their bonehead husbands who are lucky just to be tolerated. Maybe that's why we expect more of women.

In the end, though, it doesn't really matter. Every generation needs a Sunny. Who was a new Missy Hyatt. Who was a new...um...Mae Young? *shudders*

The only way to make the story more salacious would have been if he had said "10 people" and not "10 guys," implying some of the divas were also on the list.

-- Orton referenced his recent concussion in Spain and candidly discussed his concussion history. Orton said the live Raw taping the day afterward was "the biggest blur" and he "couldn't focus or concentrate." Orton noted it was his sixth concussion and WWE was worried. He said it's been three years since his previous concussion, then discussed having some "bad ones" earlier in his career.

They had him do the "impact test" which I don't know much about, but is supposed to say whether or not you are cleared for physical activity. Most medical articles say doctors won't even consider someone who's had a bad concussion for a few weeks, and yet 2 days before the PPV, he's recovered.

I don't really care enough to go back through the timeline, but I thought he was out of action for a couple weeks at least before the PPV.

The injury happened on Sunday the 12th, with the PPV being on the 19th. On the 18th he announced he had passed the impact test for the PPV.

Where are we getting that Orton had a "bad" concussion, though? The recap of his interview you quoted says he had "bad ones" in the past, but it doesn't say this recent one was. In fact, it kinda implies that it wasn't.

If it wasn't serious, then there's nothing fishy about him being cleared. At least, it's no more fishy than when 30 NFL players a week get cleared for their next game after getting concussed the previous Sunday.

they all seem fishy now, whether it's wrestlers, football players or hockey players seemingly playing too soon.

Ok, the quote from Orton is:
"I got knocked out in Madrid Spain three weeks ago, flew overnight to Kennedy, two hour cab ride to wherever we were, and it was like, the biggest blur. Couldn't focus, couldn't concentrate ... I wasn't nauseous, but it was my sixth concussion so they were worried."

If it's your sixth one, and you've had bad ones in the past, then you've most likely got a pretty bad one. Concussions are cumulative in nature. Even a light one for him probably could be career ending now.

That said, there's definitely pressure in all forms of sports to come back early from any injury. Wrestling seems to have the most prevalent attitude of "working through the pain" since other athletes don't have the same worry that they will never be seen on TV again if they tell the coach they need a few weeks off.
