The show and the promotion will be called Impact, and it appears the belts will still be called 'TNA' championships.
Will the name change make you more interested in watching the show?

To answer your question in roundabout fashion...I think I'm actually more interested how they screw up the domain name situation than I am in watching this show.

No. A drastic change in direction is needed for that.
The best part of this wrestling show is the backstage interviews. The show focuses on WWE castoffs (and apparently raises that chip count next week) in prominent roles based on name value. The matches are inexcusably short.
The name change is welcome at Chez Debacle, but until the in-ring product changes, they're buying bigger pants instead of changing their diet.

I feel like they haven't thought this all the way through, but then, why start now?

Its a sort of a good PR move to get away from the double meaning of TNA, but they have used it for so long I don't understand why now and not when the first got to Spike. I'm sure this is one of those empty suit's idea of rebranding something with make it popular automatically.
As long as Hogan and Bischoff are there, I have little hope for the company. They do some cool things once and awhile, but they just keep making the wrong moves. They have great talent, but they just keep wasting it.

| #12 Posted on 6.5.11 1642.54 | Well anything is a better name than TNA. I wonder shouldn't the new name be Impact Wrestling Federation or Impact Wrestling Alliance? It would make more sense, I guess. I haven't watched Impact since the Jeff Hardy debacle until last night. The show was awful. Shannon Moore went from a heel turn weeks ago to a patriotic face yesterday. Gen Me went from feuding to being on good terms again. The worst part of the show was Bischoff shitting on the X division. The only highlight that I saw was Miss Tessmacher's entrance. They can change the name all they want but as long as Vince Russo is booking they're going nowhere.

They'll still chant TNA because they're so cool. You know just like they chanted for six sides for months on end.

Well, that would certainly fit the theme of TNA (er, Impact Wrestling)...

If that's true, then it's even more ridiculous and pointless.
Most likely it's being done as a "dig" at WWE but, honestly, is anyone going to notice? And is it really that much of a "dig", when they have about as much wrestling on Impact as WWE does on Raw (I think I counted about 22 minutes last week). | PaulKTF

I think it's more to emphasize to those seeing the title listed on their TV Guides that it's a wrestling show. "TNA Impact!" gives people who don't know what the product is the wrong idea alltogether.
"Impact Wrestling" is a much more straightforward name for the show.
And hey; if that happens to mean they're going to put more wrestling and less talking on the show; then that's all for the better.
