Originally made as a fake trailer for GRINDHOUSE, HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN gained enough of a cult following that it spawned it's own film.
Rutger Hauer makes a commanding performance here. I'd have to say this is the best work he's done in forever. I'd hold this next to BLIND FURY, NIGHT HAWKS, OSTERMAN WEEKEND... if this film had come out 30 years ago it would have made him a superstar! The rest of the cast is acceptable, but Hauer just kills it on screen.
The end credits theme, Run With Us, was the theme song to a great 80's cartoon series called The Raccoons. The opening theme sounded a lot like the opening credits from CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST and I'm sure it was probably meant to.
This is the best film I have so far this year and it's gonna take a miracle to beat this one. I really wish more people will get a chance to see it though. It will be getting a very limited release in select theaters and you can go here...

EDIT: Hauer was pretty good in the short time he was onscreen in the Anthony Hopkins movie The Rite.

Magnolia/Mark Cuban's model is to get you to watch it on "On Demand" PPV. If you really want to see this NOW and you have a modern cable company, it may already be available on your box. (It may also sneak onto/have already snuck onto the "HDNet Movies" channel nobody seems to have.)

I enjoyed his style and never felt he thought he was more important than the story. I also got the feeling he got a kick out of interviewing artists. He had a great interview with Miles Davis many years ago.
