| #21 Posted on 27.6.02 1651.55 | I actually think it's kind of cool Jeff responce. It's like why should he defend himself like someone accusing him of wifebeating or drug abuse, it's like he's saying, I don't have a problem with that life style so if you want to believe I pertake in that so be it.
I also think that responce "believe what you want to believe" is made by people that thinks he's popular with the homosexual community and don't want to say "no freakin way I'm gay errr Are you kidding me No WAY" might actually be a slap in the face to the fan base that might support them if act like he doesn't even want to be assosiated in the same breathe of them.

Sucker.
Besides, remember the backlash when Keanu Reeves said "HELL no I'm not gay!" to an interviewer from a gay magazine who asked him the same question?

Actually, ecstasy might be a special problem for wrestlers, considering the main danger is overheating. That can be avoided, to some extent, by drinking a shitload of water, but the danger is still there. | shea

| #24 Posted on 27.6.02 2126.40 | here's the short list, off the top of my head, of people who, at one time or another, when questioned on their sexual preference, gave variations of the "believe what you want to believe" answer:
Freddie Mercury, Elton John, Rosie O'Donnell, Ellen Degeneres, George Michael ...
All I'm saying is, it always seems those giving the vague non-denials come out of the closet sooner or later. Straights just don't seem prone to giving THAT answer to THAT question.

I think he would lose many of his gay fans if he denied it, but he would lose many straight fans if he said yes. Personally, I think he's straight, but more importantly, I think he gave a very saavy answer in neither afirming nor denying it.
I knew this handsome guy who said that people often thought he was gay and that he would not deny it, esp when ladies thought he was gay, because then they would open up to him easier, and then... "Surprise, I'm straight!" Yeah, it's too bad he wasn't gay.. not that we had anything in common anyways.

| #27 Posted on 27.6.02 2322.43 | Irrelevant side note, cos honestly it probably is his stunt bike riding that has the wwe concerned, and nothing else (it is DEFINETLY not the gay thing, if he is [which I actually doubt, honestly], or else Pat Patterson, Scott Levy (Raven), and I'm sure at least a few others would be in trouble. I mean, really, the job is groping built sweaty men.) Anyhoo, the whole being percieved as gay thing only really matters when someone you love asks you if you are or not. Right after sex. I think my ex is dumber than I thought at the time. Anyhoo, rant over.

i bet it is the motorcrossing...but it could be a sign of someting darker, like a behind the scenes thing...
if they were worried about drugs, they would have pulled a Guerrero and thrown him in a rehab by now...

| #31 Posted on 28.6.02 1903.40 | Back in the day the Hardy's had an official site, and on it Jeff seemed pretty opposed to not only drugs but alcohol as well. Things may have changed over the years (this was early 2000 or so), I'm just saying is all.
And I agree with whoever said that Jeff's non-denial about being gay sounded like something that would be said by a straight man. "Gay dude..." Either that or he's REALLY good at picking words, and we've seen by his promos that this isn't his strong suit.
My pick: his stunt-lifestyle is the problem, not drugs, and definitely not a gay lifestyle.

I can understand the whole dangerous lifestyle aspect... so that's probably where its coming from. Also, I remember at least one or two interviews where Jeff has refered to his girlfriend, for what it`s worth.

| #37 Posted on 29.6.02 0153.02 | I think Jeff Hardy has just gotten to *freaky* looking for most fans. That look just don't fly down South or in the Midwest. I personally think he's got a better look than his first big run with the company. He stands out, and that's a good thing in wrestling.
I do think that the reason you hear so many squeals during his matches is that guys are afraid to cheer for him. Where a character like Goldust is so over the top that you know it can't be real, but with Jeff he looks like that *queer* looking dude at the video store/bar/at school.
I'm in to Jeff Hardy's character more now than I was when everyone was on the bandwagon. Jeff hasn't lost any talent in the last year. He's still the same spotty Sabu style wrestler he always was. I just think that people jumped ship, because of the look he now sports.

| #38 Posted on 29.6.02 0154.42 | As far as the Ecstacy thing goes, Jeff _does_ have the suspicious look and demeanor of someone who spends quite a bit of time rolling face. Drawing on my own less than stellar past, I can say that when affected by the drug that one also tends to gain a sense of forgetting what they aren't capable off and are much more likely to shrug off pain after doing something stupid. As far as Vince immediately sending Jeff off to rehab, as long as Jeff doesn't go on a naked Rampage like Juventud Guerrera did, there's not all that much to suspect (until he walks up to Raven while fighting a perpetual grin and asks to be touched all over, anyway)
And as far as the gay thing, it definitely fits his profile, but he's reasonably crafty to walk the line with his response and not alienate his fanbase on either side. Still, I wouldn't be surprised. He gives off even more of a closet-case vibe than even DX (Shawn and HHH) ever did.

| #40 Posted on 29.6.02 1341.34 | I read this on one of the minor news/rumor sites:
Observers say Jeff Hardy seems rejuvenated and is more serious about his career than he was a few months ago. The idea to keep Hardy off of house shows was planned in advance, so there were no more incidents that led to this move. On the flip-side, wrestlers are still worried about Jeff Hardy's out of ring lifestyle.
So, if this is true, it is important to see that wrestlers are worried about what he does outside of the ring. Here, the sexuality aspect could come into play.
If Jeff is going cruising, he is at risk for picking up an STD of some type. Of course, wrestlers have been been having relationships with ring rats for years, but when engaging in casual sex with someone who has done the same, with someone who has done the same, etc., the risk increases dramatically. Gay cruising areas are notorious for being the breeding ground for AIDS, as well as several other blood-borne pathogens.
If this is the "out of ring lifestyle" that Jeff is into, then the other wrestlers would definitely be worried. Should he pick up a disease, he would not know about it for quite some time. In the meantime, should he bleed in a match, he is at risk for anyone else in the ring, the medical area, or the locker room. And is it just me, or has Jeff been very infrequent in the amount of blading he does?
I'm not saying that this is the reason for controversy, and I think that the motocross and the drug issues are much more likely. However, should he be gay, there is a chance that the lifestyle would lead to him hurting not only himself, but his co-workers. Which is something the drugs or motorcycle life would not do. I just wanted to point out that there is a case to be made for his sexual life being an issue.
And the moral of the story, if you are ever in a truck stop restroom, take your autograph book. Because Jeff Hardy might be there. (Not that there's anything wrong with that... IF safe and responsible.)
