I'm a Cub fan (I think that's pretty well known around these parts). This isn't the kind of battle that makes any sense in starting. We got swept out of the first round of the playoffs after having the best record in the NL during the regular season. Pointing out that the Cards didn't make the playoffs in this instance is Pavlovian in its simplicity.
Is [the idea that pitchers are becoming fragile] true? Personally, I don't think so; that's been adressed before me, plus I'll cover the rest of the reasons (IMO) with the other questions. Are Managers making them throw too much?
