I was thinking of picking up an MMA game for the PS2. Does anyone have any advice on which is the best one? I've read quite a few mixed reviews for the UFC ones....

Cheers in advance.

Oddly enough, Fire Pro Wrestling has an MMA mode and a pretty substantial roster already built in.

Plus, Fire Pro Wrestling is cheap ($15-$20), has a great create-a-wrestler mode (or create-a-fighter, I guess), and is the best wrestling game on the PS2 to boot. Every person with a PS2 and even a passing interest in wrestling or MMA should own this game. No excuses.

I used to have UFC Sudden Impact on the PS2. It was cheap, dated, pretty easy, and played just like the UFC game for the Dreamcast if that means anything to you. I made a pro-wrestler in the create-a-fighter mode, and made people tap to the figure-four. Fun enough for cheap, but I eventually traded it off.

Any UFC game which is available for purchase right now totally sucks. A new one is supposedly coming out in late 2008 or 2009.

Lloyd: When I met Mary, I got that old fashioned romantic feeling, where I'd do anything to bone her.
Harry: That's a special feeling.

I'd say I have to agree with all of this. There really aren't any out there that play like an MMA fight. The latest Firepro game is the closest approximation as far as I can tell.

There's also the newish PC game that Adam Ryland put together, but that's more of a booking/business/matchmaking type game as far as I could tell, though to be honest I haven't played it.

If you decide to go the two round method, make sure you don't lose a round. Use a fighter you are comfortable with or the method King of Keith described because losing one round in a two round fight will not let you get Akuma or Gouken.
