Man, I only just checked out the board as I was wrapping up work. I'm absolutely stunned right now. Even more than Eddie.

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

“I felt a great disturbance… as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.”

Godspeed, Chris. Hope you and Eddie are tearing it up up there.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

A small update, courtesty of the Atlanta Journal Constitution:

Officials would not say how the family died, other than to say they weren't shot to death.

Holy fuck shit motherfucker shit. Read comics. Fuck shit shit fuck shit I sold out when I did my job. Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck. Sorry had to do it....

Chris Benoit was not only a truly great in-ring worker not only a truly great in-ring worker, but he was by all accounts a class individual who cared deeply about the business and the fans. What a great loss.

I have fond memories of Woman from the WCW days as well.

I hope this turns out to have nothing to do with wrestling, simply because it`s becoming increasingly difficult to enjoy wrestling without thinking about the toll it seems to be inflicting. And while I`m certainly not superstitious enough to believe there is any connection, I hope that this puts an end not only to the current Mr. McMahon angle, but to any angle in wrestling that would ever treat death in so cavalier a manner.

I'm stunned. RIP, and God bless his family.

My favorite law school professor, Bill Lash -- who worked in the W. Bush administration, and always seemed like an amazingly smart, level-headed-guy (and was also a huge wrestling fan; in our law school final in corporate law, the essay question involved Hulk Hogan, Goldberg, and the nWo taking over a rival company) died about a year ago, along with his autistic boy, in his Northern Virginia home, in a very untimely manner as well. That's all I can think about right now.

I'm shocked, but an entire family doesn't die like this without foul play. This is beyond sad.

WWE soooo needs to have Vince McMahonon camera talking about the tastelessness of his staged death.

I have no idea how I explain that this death is real to my 12 year old son.

RIP Chris, Nancy, and Daniel. My condolences to the extended family.

This sounds so trite - I'm sorry.

I apologize for lack of anything intelligent to say. I only got the news from my brother as I was coming home from work. I hadn't checked the boards or sites since earlier in the morning. I haven't been this floored by a wrestler's death since Eddie and Owen. F**k this sucks....

Well, wishful thinking on my part that it was a work. I'm really numb about this, but even without speculating as we want to be tasteful, this doesn't seem to have anything to do with wrestling. Time will tell.

Never forget you, Crippler.

I'm not even sure how to feel. I just tuned in at 7:00 and and said "Holy SHIT!". My wife asked what and when I told her, she said, "for real?". When I said yes, she just picked up the kids and took them downstairs.

I feel like I should be crying - I'm sure I will. When a guy on screen loses it, I know I will too.

Thanks for being here guys...

Ten minutes or so after hearing about this, I'm still in the numbness stage, though I can feel the first tears ready to form any moment now. I can't believe this. He's also my favorite wrestler of all-time; I've been following him since 1996. I started to get quite upset when WCW kept giving him the shaft, went nuts during his historic 1999 when he won the Tag Team Title, U.S. Title twice and TV title; went apeshit when he won the WCW Title in 2000, and overall I was very pleased, from the start, with how WWE booked him (despite the fact that it would take until 2004 for me to see him wearing a World Title around his waist).

This is just an incomprehensible tragedy.

And I wish that it hadn't taken the real death of someone for Vince McMahon to go on camera and admit his "death" was staged. (Which he did.)

Had the pleasure of being there live in 2004 at the Royal Rumble to see Chris win it and go on to WM. It was an amazing moment, and one of my favorite crowd reactions ever. Benoit was LOVED in Philly, and always will be. Nancy Benoit had been around in the business forever, too, one of the best female managers I ever saw in terms of presence. It's just horribly sad. I think WWE is doing a great thing tonight, and I don't say that often.

RIP Chris, Nancy and Daniel.

Been here for almost three years, never once W of the Day. How utterly sad.

I guess it was in the late 80s, when Ric Flair and Nancy were teamed together. I vividly remember Flair screaming at the men in the audience: "You're not good enough to beat me, and you're not man enough to hold the hand of Woman! She's mine! Woooo!" The crowd was so hot, they were about ready to riot. If memory serves, this was before Sting won his first world title, and after the Flair / Funk feud.

She really helped elevate Rick Steiner, too.

What a terrible loss. Whatever potential misdeeds transpired, for their child to die is so horrific, it defies words.

So now BOTH of the big winners from Wrestlemania XX are gone.

I turned on RAW late, saw Cena talking in a somber voice, and thought they were going forward with the McMahon angle. To turn back later and see the "Remembering Chris Benoit" graphics was an absolute shock.

This would be an excellent time to end the McMahon Murder Mystery angle.

Has anyone here heard what the "official" theme song for WrestleMania XX is? It's less than three weeks away and I've heard nothing about what it might be.
