Unidentified location (groceteria.com) my ass. Given that the original source picture clearly *says* Palm Springs on the front right under the eaves.

(None of our Alpha Beta Stores had the little guy with the "Acme" ribbon. We were clearly a later generation.)

That pic reminds me of one of my favorite, lesser known Cake songs, appropriately titled Alpha Beta Parking Lot.

Hey, it's another food which doesn't look gross when pictured. I love popcorn. It's the only corn based item I regularly eat, which is pretty hard to do nowadays. I also use a pot and some oil, screw that microwave stuff.

I like to pop my own too but I use homemade ghee instead of oil. I don't know if it is any healthier, but it sure does taste better.

Mikki has nice hair.

And what grown-up goes by the name Mikki and pronounces it Mikey?

He's no Brad Miller, is he?

How do you make ghee? The only method I know of involves getting tigers to chase each other around a tree while wearing your clothes.

I used to use a simple pot and oil myself. Then someone bought me a popper from this place along with some of that genuine coconut oil that that the movie theaters use (I know - probably LOADED with trans fats). I will never go back. Even if you don't want any of the cool toppings or oils they have, you should really think about getting the popper. I've had about 5 or 6 unpopped kernels total in the 3 batches I've made thus far.

A relative wanted to get me a popper for the holidays this year but I had to say no because I have absolutely zero extra room in the kitchen. Maybe when I move to a bigger place it would be a fun thing to have. But as it is with the simple pot and lid I'm pretty good. As a rough estimate because it's not like I keep a log of this sort of thing, I average about 5 unpopped kernals and those are fun to chew on when I'm done anyway. I used to have one of those air-poppers when I was a kid, but I think that takes all the fun out of it.

I learned from this website which I randomly found about a year ago: http://www.bcgreen.com/bcsfa/popcorn.html

I've found the key here is to not continuously shake the pot while its popping. Do as that site says and hold it still for 1 second, shake for 2 seconds, and repeat until its done. And don't shake up and down, keep it as close to the burner as possible and just move it forward and backward really fast. You don't want to fling kernals up and away from the heat source.

I usually use Olivio Spray and various seasonings. My girlfriend likes it with nutritional yeast but that stuff kinda makes me want to puke.

We have the Whirly-Pop, also. It cannot be beat. Once you have used it a few times and the pot is seasoned, you can use almost no oil at all to pop the corn. And all the kernels pop. It is terrific.

What's the over/under on her not living long enough to make another appearance on his show?

I bet $20 that she doesn't last another year.

Only with facial hair.

I have no problem with this whatsoever, as I detest spoilers. They're called spoilers for a reason. HOWEVER I just want to make certain I don't get nailed if I post something on Thursday, since that's when we get it here.
