| #2650 Posted on 12.1.12 1205.15 | Instant Rating: 7.80 | We've had a bag of the Sour Cream & Onion Doritos sitting in our pantry for over a week now and nobody has had the courage to open it. It might be that the IDEA of SC&O Doritos are better than the actual thing. I don't usually like SC&O dip with tortilla chips so that may be part of it.
I haven't seen Salsa Rio Doritos in a looooong time, but love that they brought (what seems like) the original Taco Doritos back. We had a bag of the Pizza flavored ones recently that were quite tasty too.

If it had been on sale - and if I had felt like eating anything - I would have bought a sour cream & onion just for the weirdness. I'm sure when I eventually try it, I'll ask myself why I didn't just get Cool Ranch instead.
Taco is back for good (for now), and you can find it in the current packaging in some stores, and the retro packaging has a picture of the current packaging on the back to let you know what to look for.
More flavors in the photo I took (with minimal arrangement, although I had the banner excerpt in mind) and it's posted at G+ (plus.google.com).

Plus, you can dip Doritos in the salsa for EXTRA deliciousness. EDIT: Semi-related thought... Have you ever noticed that Frito-Lay is the absolute master of the seasoned tortilla chip? All other brands and store brands of Doritos-type chips are awful. (Particularly Kettle's version. Ugh.)

My guess was people were thrilled to have them back, assumed the modern packaging Taco was something different and sales dropped, so they brought back the retro packaging again due to confusion.
Taco and Spicy Nacho are my current go-to flavors when I bother with Doritos at all, though I'll grab a bag of Sweet Spicy Chili out of the vending machine every once in awhile.

Disappointed to discover my local Vons doesn't have the Sour Cream and Onion Doritos yet. I opted for the Pizza Supreme to satisfy my weirdo Doritos flavor craving.
