Rearview mirror by Pearl Jam usually puts me in this weird vibe/mood. It's not happy, it's not sad..it's just very emotional. I get the same thing with 'Roses' by dEUS.
There are a ton of other songs that have some emotional affect or value on me but these two stand out. Some quick ones though: Estranged, Rocket Queen, Sweet Child O'Mine by Guns N' Roses. Black, Porch, etc etc etc by Pearl Jam.

Man, you nailed one of my favorite songs there as well. I will also go with that song.
That's a good one, but I have more emotional resonance with some of their solo work, particularly "The Prodigal" and "If These Walls Could Speak" by Amy Grant and "Pray for Me" by Michael W. Smith.
Bryan White's "Rebecca Lynn" always puts me in a good mood since it was released as a single shortly before the birth of our eldest, who is also named Rebecca Lyn. I also love hearing "The Slam" by TobyMac because that one always gets my blood pumping.
I'm sure there are other songs I could add, but most of them would probably bring back painful memories.

Sweet Child Of Mine by Guns'n'Roses When I'm With You by Sheriff
My first job was washing dishes overnight on weekends. Saturday mornings the grill cook and I would ride over to this Mom & Pop convenience store that had been converted from a small house. They had a pool table and a jukebox in a spare room and we would each bring a roll of quarters to feed to 'em. We played until the money ran out which, at 25¢ per game and 30 songs for $5, took all morning. I always experience strong memories when I hear these songs. Also, Freddy Curci was listed in the Guinness Book of Records for "holding the longest note in a pop song" during the ending of "When I'm with You" and that note kicks butt.
Also, most songs that you can think of by Queen get me pumped....

Totally. I always well up when I hear it, be it for a commerical, on a TV show or wherever. For some reason, it always gets me and makes me feel really sad.
Well, that's just drunk talk! Sweet, beautiful drunk talk....

If you really want to feel sad and are strong enough to listen without becoming sad/depressed enough to commit suicide listen to Lou Reed's album "Berlin" and Neil Young's album "Tonight's the Night." Both quite powerful though quite different.
I'm not sure which these fit into.. (Positive/Negative), but these ones always seem to affect me somehow...
Altitude - "Silence is Loud" Alien Ant Farm - "Quiet" Masaharu Iwata - The entire soundtrack to "Baroque" Fuel - "Shimmer" (This one is good and bad at the same time, moreso than any other song could ever be.)
I'll go with "September When It Comes", by Rosanne Cash. It feaures guest vocals from her father and, until "American V" comes out, it's the last thing he recorded before he died to be released.
I gotta second "Champagne Supernova". I don't fully understand what it is about that song - I don't have the same reaction with any of the dozens of other songs that were all over the radio at the time, but whenever I hear it, it's the summer of 1996 all over again.
Also Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", preferably the Rufus Wainwright cover, but anyone singing it with real emotion gets the job done.
And "I'm Going To Go Back There Someday", by The Great Gonzo from "The Muppet Movie". I don't know how I feel about the fact that the most beautiful song ever written was written for a Muppet, I just know that it was.
Oh, and while the songs can get to me on their own, the music videos for Audioslave's "Doesn't Remind Me" and Joe Strummer's cover of "Redemption Song" choke me up every single time I see them.

We're not so different, you and I. If I never hear "Freebird" again, it'll be too soon.

I'd almost forgotten how beautiful that song was. Thank you for reminding me.
It's funny...the Muppet movies (up until Muppets in Space) had some really tender, beautiful moments. My personal favorites were the wedding scene in Muppets Take Manhattan and the "hanging above the cliffs moment" from Muppet Treasure Island.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the number of moments that take our breath away.
"Atlanta" by the Stone Temple Pilots (the last track on the woefully-overlooked "No. 4" CD), which I don't think was ever released as a single (just discovered by happy accident). Without going completely emo, that's such a beautifully painful song; it feels like what love and joy and pain and life are when distilled into music.

I love Fuel and that is a great choice; however, I think "Sunburn" off the same album is even better and more affecting; I have to steel myself when the acoustic version comes up on my iPod.
Originally posted by Kevintripod"My Happy Ending" by Avril Lavigne.....the song makes me a little sad and angry both at the same time because it reminds my of a few of my past relationships where I got totally screwed over by an old female flame.
I assume you've heard Avril's acoustic version from her AOL Sessions release? The voice crack towards the end is so perfect and fitting and absolutely makes the song.
Bruce Springsteen - Backstreets Counting Crows - A Murder of One Stereophonics - Handbags and Gladrags Solomon Burke - Fast Train The Killers - All These Things That I've Done Gustav Holst - Jupter, The Bringer of Jollity
These two are gonna sound really funny together, but I can't help it.
"Who Wants To Live Forever" by Queen. The song seems so sad and uplifting at the same time. I dunno.
Strauss' "Blue Danube". I can't help it - it just makes me happy no matter when I hear it. So plucky. And it reminds me of the NFL Football Follies video where they show clips to the song.
