I would say all over North Africa and the Middle East. There's also unrest and protests in places like Bahrain, Oman, and Iraq among other countries that are major oil producers. Libya is in far more chaos than the other counties, but I wouldn't be surprised if the prices are being affected in part because of what's taking place in the other countries as well.

Here in beautiful Sydney gas (rather, "petrol") has hit the $1.50 per liter mark and with the AUD being at parity with the USD, that's about $6/gallon in the States.
Variously across the Valley I've seen $3.63 to $3.96 for regular. Lesson: Use up as much gas as possible driving around looking for gas.

It will be by summer vacation time. If it'll make you feel better, just pretend that it already is $5, but you're just finding the rockin' spring sale deals!
Pricing in the run up to Easter. We've got a 5 day weekend coming up because Easter coincides with ANZAC day this year.
I was lucky enough to catch a servo on Tuesday that was selling at $1.36AUD/L Before I got to them I passed a couple that were selling for $1.52 and there were reports of some servos selling for $1.60
The prices watchdog said they checked it out and it wasn't price gouging before the holidays, but rather just part of the normal weekly discount cycle.
I'm sure that the price watch group is on the ball and not a toothless tiger that is a complete waste of taxpayer's money, but I don't remember seeing these prices occur on previous weeks :p

This year, our family opened Christmas presents on December 22. I got my mother a new Kindle Fire with Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night" as a case for it. Her old Fire, while not dead exactly, is being... temperamental lately.
