Honest, I thought she had the look, the build, and at least the base skills to be pushed as a face. This was during her initial WWE run, when I thought they should have packaged her as the WWE's Serena Williams, the upstart athletic rookie. As it was, she was the only thing that made the Bashams' notable.

| #23 Posted on 24.6.05 1213.38 | Instant Rating: 7.00 | Usually in my lurking I'm in agreement with Tracker's posts. I'm in semi-agreement here. I don't think Shaniqua would have been a top draw, but I think if she was used correctly (and had she made strides to improve) she would have worked really well for the girls' division. The thing I feel is that that when we actually have a functioning women's division, there isn't enough diversity. Every chick pretty much has to wrestle a similar style. As soon as someone like Gail Kim does something different (IE the submission specialist) they're fired. The WWE really has no idea how to book it. Shaniqua could have been their monster face/heel. That is what the division was missing. Your one huge chick that can execute all of these power moves and look invincible. Trish could have had a lot to work with there in either the face or heel role. As a face she's the underdog that has to fend off the power of the monster heel, as the heel she cheats to outwit the unstoppable force. They could have even used (shudder) Chyna for this kind of role since she was already established, had she not had such an ego and substance abuse problem.
Anyway, they could have done something with alot of people. And with the Diva Search... well we'll probably be seeing a bit less development in the women's division anyway. Alright, I'll shut up now.

But wasn't the reason for her release/firing that she had a poor attitude and wasn't working to improve as much as she could have? That tells me that she just wasn't worth investing the time into, especially when the Women's Division isn't that important anyway.

I have heard that, but it may be chicken and egg.
Let's blame both parties: She was stuck as another valet on SD, and she wasted an opportunity others would have killed for.

They had their monster heel with the power moves. Her name was Jazz, and they fired her too.
Though the fans NEVER would have bought her as a face unless they Barbied her up like they did Chyna.

What does it take to be a good women's wrestler? Let's assume that deep down, that's the goal of the Diva Searches. Most of us would agree right now that Trish Stratus is the best women's wrestler currently on the roster, and consistently one of the most over performers.
What does it take to make ANOTHER TRISH?
Trish came from a fitness modelling background. She got signed in 2000 and managed a bunch of useless slugs while honing her on-screen persona, and then was gradually sidled into wrestling. I'm assuming that Fit Finlay & Co. just trained the shit out of her when she wasn't on TV. Other than that, Trish was known as athletic, quite visually attractive, and articulate (us Canadians learned this during her frequent spots on Off The Record).
So...who matches THAT criteria? -Elizabeth: Profile mentions "extensive experience in fitness modeling & dance", and that she excelled in gymnastics, basketball & tennis.

Well, here's my first impression of the ladies. After RAW, I might edit this post if I change my mind on any of them...
Elisabeth
Pros: As Freeway mentioned, she has the best chance of actually being a wrestler.
Cons: I don't see her making it to the top three.
***
Kristal
Pros: Uh...unique look?
Cons: Unfortunately, from the pictures, she looks like an alien. No freakin' way she even breaks the top five.
***
Leyla
Pros: Cool name? Maybe guys are into that trailer trash look.
Cons: She looks like a friggin' drag queen.
***
Cameron
Pros: Appeared in three issues of Playboy, so she's already going to have a good fanbase.
Cons: Very plain looking
***
Simone:
Pros: ...?
Cons: Nothing makes her stand out.
***
Alexis
Pros: Very exotic look Due to ballet andappearing in a fitness magazine, she COULD fit the profile of a wrestler. Seems to actually know SOMETHING about 'rasslin.
Cons: Might not make it past all the blondes.
***
Ashley
Pros: You KNOW this is going to be the chick that all the teenyboppers vote for. Tomboyish attitude sets her apart from other girls.
Cons: Maybe people are getting sick of the Litaish look? Nah...
***
Summer
Pros: Prettiest face Also could fit in the wrestler role, due to her experience in athletics and gymnastics.
Cons: Looks like at least two other contestants (Elisabeth and Simone) and doesn't really stand out.
***
My early top three predictions: Alexis, Cameron, and Ashley.

The girl who showed her vagina (the one who "wore" that green bikini) will make it far, she'll likely be the sluttiest. God I hate this. Keep these skanks away from my wrestling. Actually, I think that bodes well for Alexis. She's a top fitness model, just like Trish (along with Tori Wilson, who got her start as a fitness model, too). And unlike Tori & Trish, Alexis can appeal to a demographic that favors non-blondes/ Caucasians.
The WWE decided that women who get their start by wrestling in rings across North America to hone their technique just aren't as marketable as fitness models (meaning hard, toned bodies & soft, feminine faces) who learn the trade under their careful eye -- and if they're looking to emulate what worked for Trish, Alexis might be the odds-on favorite.
Guess we'll find out tonight...

During the first diva contest, I just had a hunch from the very first night that Christy was going to win. It was just something about her "look" that I liked more than the rest of the finalists.
So going with that "first impression vibe" again...I'm picking the girl with the backwards hat also.

About half of the girls had no clue what to do, were completely unprepared, and had zero personality. I don't think it'll be too difficult to narrow the squad to four...
