HHH/Batista vs. Benoit/Jericho was much better.
I'm starting to think that I'm a super Edge and/or Orton mark and just don't know it, because I loved their Vengeance match as well and most others thought it was a snore-fest.
Speaking of which, I'd LOVE to see WWE give Edge the title. It'd be something different and new. Plus, I think Edge is the most entertaining guy on RAW lately, save for Christian but he ain't gettin' the World Title anytime soon. Seriously, I thought Edge was horrible earlier in the year as a face. But, since turning heel he's been one of the guys I look most forward to seeing on Monday.

Christ, enough already. We get it.
ON-TOPIC: While Batista's scoop and spinebuster on Benoit went much too quickly for my tastes, I did get the "wow, they just had him pin a former World Champion" vibe BIG TIME from the exchange. Batista might be bordering on over-rated from all of the love he gets from the smarks lately, but he's definitely my favorite part of Raw now.
Alas, Mohammed Assan... we never knew ye well. That angle is done with in my opinion.

He seems to be getting his rap down pretty good, but I think his manager is dead weight and will only slow him down, though. I’m not sure I like where his gimmick is heading. I was disappointed they gave him some “foreign”-sounding entrance music. The gist of his gimmick seems to want to fuel Anti-Arab-American sentiments, which I don’t think is a good thing. And I always find it odd when the crowd chants a dissenting “USA! USA!” at an American (hello Rob Conway). Okay, so Hassan says Arab-Americans have been the object of unfair scrutiny and discrimination since 9-11. Foley disagrees. What exactly is he disagreeing with? Isn’t it true? Other than that, Foley did the best he could with a bad angle. Props to him. And props to him for supporting the troops even if he doesn’t support the war. I just hope they’re leaving a little room to tweak Hassan’s gimmick a little. I think it needs tweaking. I like the angry young man thing, I just wish it didn’t reflect so badly on him in a racial way. What I was hoping they would do with him was somehow allow him to prove that he’s just as much a normal American as anyone else. Maybe there’s still time. And I really was hoping to see him wrestle tonight. Might we have to wait till after the new year?
I admit that I built my new PC instead of watching Raw last night. However, I have to say that I never had high hopes for this Hassan angle. No good can ever come of the WWE and race issues. The little clip I saw on WWE.com, of Foley going on about America being the land of the free and home of the brave, was enough to make me glad I didn't watch Raw. | Matt Tracker

Seeing my gal take to Eric, she might as well have said, "Damn, your Granny's got it going on." I was stunned. But she finds gray hair enticing. Which is good because this little discovery of hers is giving me plenty.

Ooh, I feel the exact opposite. I want them both off of the TV, but I think Daivari is terrifyingly good at his Raise The Terror Alert delivery. Hassan is kind of a turd out there but Khosrow should be a villain in action movies. | Hogan's My Dad

Precisely, and I think that's part of thing that's driving Hassan's gimmick into overkill; it reinforces the unfortunate stigma as Arab-Americans as "the enemy within". I usually don't call the E out on matters of taste, but when the issue is so delicate, and so potential harmful to so many people.
Maybe it's because I'm half east-Indian and look somewhat arabic, and getting over the border lately to visit my Aunt and Uncle in Rochester has been a royal pain in the ass, but I don't think any TV show should be reinforcing negative racial stereotypes like this. Somehow, it's easier to get away with it in wrestling.

When I first saw the Raw review I thought I don't agree with it but now that a reflect back a bit, basically a day removed, I can see it was a pretty entertaining RAW.
Some things I like, ironically enough, were the backstage segments are starting to grow on me. They are starting to get better on how it's all portrayed.
There matches were all pretty good and Maven is really starting to make me itch with these sneaky wins.
Simon Dean signs his contract with RAW. So, he's unofficially be wrestling for the company?!? Weird...
Liked Arab vs Foley speech. They make valid points yet the Arab don't like America because his screening at the airport takes 30 minutes longer. That's the only gripe I've seen for this character. Funny thing is if I ever fly it will probably happen to me the way I look.
I'm starting to like Edge's gripe for the world title. You've got HHH MEGA Heel, Edge Normal gripe Heel, and Face Benoit. Now hold the belt up a month and put it in the Elimination chamber...about time they broke puppy back out. I like Batista's smile when he got booked in the match.
Will Evolution last until that match?
I wanna see the Mark Magnus wrestle not talk.

| #33 Posted on 14.12.04 1915.03 | Instant Rating: 5.32 | I was paying extra-close attention to what Mr. Hassan was saying, and I realized that he was really just spouting the same ultra-liberal rhetoric that I've heard many many times from the anti-war people in my area (a fairly liberal college town).
If say, Stevie Richards, were cutting the same promo, he would be a prime example of what Rush Limbaugh and Mark Hyman call the 'Angry Left.' However, he's not white, so people factor in what they like to believe is some righteous indignation on the behalf of Arab-Americans who won't speak up for themselves.

I'd like to respond this, but I think Hassan is taking up all the RAW discussion space, and maybe people would like to talk about other aspects of the show. There seems to be enough interest in Hassan for his own thread, so I hope the mods don't mind if I start a separate one. See you there.
Cheers.
