Let's just say one thing about steroids. As much as we think we know about them, we don't know that much. Of course, wrestlers in the past took steroids. However, if you take a more objective look at the history of dead wrestlers, you will undoubtedly find that many did other drugs as well. Curt Hennig, Mike Hegstrand, Rick Rude, Davey Boy, and many others were notorious for their use of painkillers and other illicit drugs. Most of these guys would rinse down the pills with a shot of Jack. Don't forget that these are big guys, so they can't probably pound beers and not feel the damage they're doing, especially if they're high. And, as Miss Elizabeth taught us, pills and alcohol don't mix.

A good example is Hulk Hogan. He never cycled when it came to steroids. Year round he would shoot right into his biceps, back, chest, and legs. However, he's still alive. Granted, he might be on borrowed time by now, but he's still tickin'. The point is, as far as we know, steroids are the only thing he has a history with. That and marijuana, though he claimed to have stopped smoking by the time he got to the WWE.

Someone upthread mentioned wrestlers saying that they lift weights 3 hours a day....that could be exaggeration in some cases, perhaps to impress Vince or maybe just a bit of ego.

Also, in regards to Eddie, my only wonder about him is if he'd take steroids after his earlier drug addiction.

Frankly, at this point we can assume that every WWE superstar is on some kind of steroid and/or painkiller. The beating they take every night is just too hard not to.

I just want to mention, Miss Elizabeth comes up every time we have this discussion, but as I recall drugs and alchohol aren't what killed her. She had some pills in her system, but what killed her was choking to death on her dinner.

Mick Foley on book tour addresses drug use problems in pro-wrestling at Syracuse University:

"Wrestling has had a tough time with deaths and the emphasis on size," he said. "It was weird, though, when baseball players would come around and be bigger than us. I'm all for testing. It's not going to affect me. The real problem is painkillers. Drugs are obviously a huge, huge problem, but I don't know if the war on drugs is being fought the right way."

Lance Storm prides himself on being steroid-free & painkiller-free. There's probably a handful of others who can claim the same, but I'd agree the majority of the roster partakes of either/both (albeit not in the same doses).
