And for equal time, here's Yen's 25 Anti-Superstars of All Time:

Sid Vicious, Vader, Zeus, Brutus Beefcake, Ahmed Johnson, Shane Douglas, Bam Bam Bigelow, Tatanka, Test, Nathan Jones, Savio Vega, Crush, Ludwig Borga, Haku, Buff Bagwell, Mabel, A-Train, Billy Gunn, Tiger Ali Singh, Charles Wright, Rikishi, Mark Henry, Gangrel, Lex Luger, Marc Mero

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Add Sean "X-Pac" Waltman to that list too.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ya can't forget about:
Bart Gunn, Tommy Dreamer, D-low Brown, Mideon, Steven Richards, Al Snow, The Brooklyn Brawler, and possibly Scott Steiner.

I disagree about D-Lo ... he's got some chops, as does Steven Richards. Early mullet Scott Steiner was the man before he became the "genetic freak".

Where are the following wrestlers?

3. Mr. Perfect - dead. We don't want to remind anyone how they've been dropping off like flies the past year.

2. Davey Boy Smith - dead, and a Hart.

1. Owen Hart - dead, a Hart, and it would've really sucked if we'd asked someone *important* to do that stunt.

I dont know about Sid Vicious in the bottom 25. I hate the guy but earlier in the thread, people were lamenting Nash's exclusion from the top 25. I dont see how Nash should get in and Sid shouldnt. They both suck but they both headlined Wrestlemania. Of course, they were two really crappy manias, but i digress...

Ouch ... that's pretty harsh ... Had Vince kept the whole "Black Hart" thing going for Owen (when Bret left for WCW), I think he would have been a main eventer easily.

I don't get Yokozuna making the list but not Diesel. Nothing against Yoko, but Diesel had the lengthier run. And hell, Razor above him? I love Razor, but geez. Someone's, uh, pretty resentful toward Mr. Nash.
Really surprised about Steamboat, and even Jericho.
And Brock Lesnar? Wouldn't have put it above the WWE, but COME ON. Hm, he probably won't make too many more of these lists anyway.
Haystacks Calhoun?
Well, list isn't too bad overall.

Why the HELL is Kane on that list?! He never even had a real title run. Theres so many people that should be on there before him....like Chris Benoit! This man has a match of the year candidate every year. And in every interview every westler says Benoit is the best pure wrestler, start giving him some damn credit.

Considering Flair...

His feud with Randy Savage was incredibly red hot. The match they had at Wrestlemania still stands out as one of the best WM matches of the last 20 years. Granted, Flair did most of his best work elsewhere (NWA/WCW), but that program alone should give Flair entry to the list. That was a textbook heel faction with Mr.Perfect defacto managing (out with injury, but always in those double breasted sharkskin suits with the Haliburton breifcase). And I can't begin to describe the intensity of the heat generated by Flair claiming to have nude photos of Miss Elizabeth and threatening to put them out at Wrestlemania. Savage was insane with rage. This was a great angle (I'm breaking out the tape this week).

A 5 star match capping off one of the biggest angles in the past 20 years puts Flair on the list.

Valentine-- Former IC Champion and World Tag Team Chanpion who was ALSO a major contender for Bob Backlund's WWWF Title years before his title runs in the mid '80s.

Santana-- Two time IC Champion, former World Tag Team Champion and overall popular star in the 1980s. His popularity with the fans justified a spot on 'Hulk Hogan's Rock n' Wrestling.' I'm not being sarcastic here. I mean, you didn't exactly see Ted Arcidi or George Steele as a character in that cartoon now, right?

Adonis-- One of the most over the top gimmicks of the 1980s and an awesome feud with Piper that was blown off at WrestleMania III, which just happened to put over Brutus, soon-to-be-the-Barber-after-that, Beefcake.

I guess I'm just trying to say that I agree with you when it comes to these three WWF Superstars.

And I also agree with NickBockwinkelFan. In a matter of six months, from the fall of 1991 to WrestleMania VIII, Ric Flair became THE centerpiece of the WWF.

And I'm not certain if there was even any vague acknowledgement of the NWA for nearly a decade before the "Real World's Champion" angle. Well, at least, certainly not after the Real World's Champion Ric Flair and Bob Backlund battled title on title, NWA vs. WWWF, in 1982.

That's why I wish WWE wouldn't limit lists like these to just fifty. There have been so many great wrestlers that have contributed to the WWF/WWE's success that any kind of top 50 or whatever just won't do justice.

I could live without Don Muraco, Kane and Ken Patera and replace them with the greatest tag team in WWF history Dick Murdoch and Adrian Adonis and where the fuck is Big John Studd?

I also agree with Greg Valentine and Tito Santana who probably had the best IC Title feud of all time.

Where would Goldust rank in all this?

No, I'm not kidding...

Think back to 1995...Goldust was the first character with any kind of unconventional edge to him that led into the more push-the-envelope type storylines that fueled the 1998 rush. While I'd certainly never suggest Goldust was the reason behind that success over, say, Austin, Rock, and DX, think of it like this...if Goldust flopped, what would have happened? If WWF fans had rejected the idea of such a controversial character, that would likely have reinforced the idea in Vince's mind that people want the traditional, cut-and-dry babyface vs. heel storylines. Instead, Goldust generated all kinds of heat and showed that different could be a good thing. His impact was only notable for about six months I'll give you that, but is significant nonetheless. Is he Top 50? Probably not. Then again, his kayfabe accomplishments outweigh those of, say, Ken Patera, and he was a more impactful character...

The Toronto Maple Leafs are built for the playoffs. Of course they are. What Leafs fans don't realize, though, is "built for the playoffs" is just GM-speak for "short on skill, kinda slow, and can't score over an 80 game season".

The three I would leave off are

Brock Lesner... Just jumps out to me as not belonging. I'm sorry anyone who's been in mainstream wrestling for just 20 months hasn't' earned the right to be considered Greatest anything unless if it's a gimmick.

Wendi Richter... I put her under flash in the pan, she caught the wave of rock n wrestling and rode the popularity of Cyndi Lauper to what I remember one feud. There's a lot of other women current and past that I think are greater overall superstars.

Razor Ramon... I don't understand how he gets the nod over Owen Hart. Was Razor even involved in a PPV World title feud?. He was a good IC champ but in his era again I put Owen as a more important superstar because he feuded for the World title. Heck I'd put Jeff Jarrett (yeah I know WWE will never acknowledge him again)as a more memorable IC champion of the mid 90s. If you want to look at the great IC champs of the early 90s Curt Hennig as an overall more impactful superstar. The only thing I can think of giving Razor the edge is if they consider those first two PPV ladder matches a monumental moments in wrestling and want to give him credit for that.

PS Does Kane's Isaac Yankem days count on his tabulation of being one of the Greatest superstars. Well he did have an amazing steal cage match with Bret Hart towards the end

Owen was awesome and he's greatly missed by workrate freaks, but drawing reactions, he sucked. His only heat came from his brother and also when Michaels decided to call him a nugget. Remember when he tried to be a face? SHUDDER. It was awful.

Brock is well on his way to becoming one of the greatest of all time, but I don't know if I'd rank him as one of the top fifty yet.

I was never really a Patera fan, either, but the rest of the list is pretty sound. Don Muraco has always been one of my favs, so it was good to see him make it.

Some entries were indeed questionnable, but it'll make for good reading during six hours of bus.

Although I'm surprised Rocky Johnson didn't make the list. After all, he's fairly important to "WWE history", no?
