Originally posted by SchippeWreckYou cannot get a submission unless you work the effected body part (head, leg, arm) until it's in the red. And then, you may need to apply the hold more than once. If the little tug of war meter is in the middle or above, you can tap the button until your fingers bleed or your turbo controller explodes...you won't get a submission.
Once the dot is closer to the submit side, your tapping will lead to their tapping.
See but thats the problem. By the time you've worked a body part to that extent you could probably have beaten them twice over with a regular pinning finisher.
I had a submission match as Jericho where the opponent (Austin IIRC) was red from the neck down and STILL he wouldnt tap to the Walls (finisher version). One appliance of the run of the mill, no button mashing version necessary version though and he was tapping like a good un.
It just seems submission finishers are WAY weaker than regular submission moves. Folks regularly tap to the Bearhug followed by slam move even when their body's only orange and I dont have to worry me about mashing my controller to a pulp in the process.
Twist of Fate: I've got no idea why you can't be beating on people post match. Maybe its related to one of your attributes or something. You can always just Taunt them, or take solace in the fact that if they do beat you up you can go backstage the next week and get retribution. Unless its bloomin Golddust who always gets the infernally difficult Booker to help him out.
I played as Kurt Angle against Brock Lesnar, single match, no DQ on difficulty level SMACKDOWN!. I beat the hell out of him, delivered multiple Angle Slams and some F5s, hit him with the chairs and with all other weapons. And when his whole body was red and he bleeded, I started working out different parts of his body and then did about 10 Angle Locks, but no. He still didn't tap. I also tried other of those submission holds but without any result. Then I did the other kind of submission move (those where you don't need to push any buttons), just stretched his leg a bit and he instantly gave up.
I almost hate the game because of this new "improved" submission hold -feuture.
Could be that Brock's just a bitch to beat. I find it pretty easy to beat 'lesser' guys with the Crossface, Ankle Lock and Walls. Maybe it's a misspent youth with International Track And Field.
...full of energy. Multi-orgasmic, if you will, in a cosmic sort of way."
I rented this game for the past three days, and here's my opinion:
Very cool.
I finished a year in the game as Kevin Nash. In that one year, I..
-Scored Victoria as my manager; -Formed the nWo with Victoria Booker T, and Shawn Michaels; -Won the tag titles with Hurricane and lost them; -Won the heavyweight title and lost it
I ended up as the hardcore champion at the end of the year, with no match at Wrestlemania, and saw the end credit video. It was fun, seeing Cena shill for the game. He's my daddy.
There are too many people missing in this game. Where the hell is Molly, Noble, and Nidia? That would have to be the worst part of it, IMHO.
I won most of my matches by using Kevin Nash's bearhug; as figuring out the finishers was way too tough outside of Rhyno's. To accomplish this, I held the controller in such a way that the circle, triangle, x and square buttons were controlled by both hands, to which I was banging on on all four buttons at once.
I liked the backstage interaction, but it certainly died off after a while. I mean, for the first month, I could talk to a person a week, maybe two; but afterwards it wasn't as interactive.
I'll definately buy this game when it reaches Greatest Hits status; but I can't help but think I should have picked up FFX or FFX2.
i don't know if this has happened to anybody else, but using a created wrestler my friend made it to wrestlemania as the smackdown tag champs, only to face the tag team of chris benoit (his enemy) and michael cole(!). i assumed/knew king would be in the game, but cole was a total shock. has anybody else seen him in the game? and is he unlockable?
p.s. his smackdown move is the shining wizard.. i think(?)

No. I couldn't even make bubba ray dudley tap with chris benoit. It was as impossible as against Lesnar. the bottom line is: YOU CAN'T BEAT ANYONE WITH SUBMISSION HOLDS NO MATHER HOW YOU TRY. (you can make CAWs with submission attribute less than 3-4 give up but who cares about that?)
btw A-MOL are you sure your playing with diff.level SMACKDOWN! ?.
You know, I play on Normal difficulty level and I get people to tap out all the time. Hell, I win more matches with John Cena by submission than by pinfall.
Wisconsin Badgers: 7-5 (Music City Bowl, eh? Oh well, I'll take it. A bowl is a bowl.)
Minnesota Vikings: 7-5 (Identical records! Honestly, I didn't see the blowout by the Rams, so I won't comment except to say: Ha Ha, Green Bay!)

Yeah its pretty damn easy to make them tap on Normal. But it's too easy to win matches on normal. Yuo can never loose a match. So thats why I'm not playing on Normal and if you play on dificulty level smackdown! you CANT make them tap. Got it?
It weird how alot of people are haveign trouble with the submissions. I don't , but mayeb it because I got thee diff. down. I like the game and I like makeing the all CAW that I can. I made She-Hulk she cool.
I was reading a reveiw of the game and the guys said someing that I though be cool. He said there should be a create-a-move in the game, because THUG has a create-a-trick and I thought that be the coolest thing and it's not like they can't do it, because THUG can. Hopely in the next game they will.
Great Muta is a wrestling GOD!! praise the Great Muta.
I feel like the master of Smackdown..... I just won an Elimination Chamber aganist Stephanie McMahon, Orton, Austin, Booker T, and Animal with STACY KEIBLER! And it was on SMACKDOWN! difficulty. To quote Quagmire, "Ohhhh yea!"

I hate you. I took one of my created wrestlers into Season mode on NORMAL difficulty, and the week before Vengeance, I made the mistake of confronting Charlie Haas backstage (I was a face, he was a heel). I ended up getting schooled by WGTT in one of the back areas in like four minutes!
I love the SmackDown! series and have every game to date, and I've been able to practically conquer each one thus far, but there MUST be something wrong if I'm getting beaten down by Haas and Benjamin and... (RKMtwin shudders) I get beaten by Steven Richards in a Hardcore match CLEAN.
Yup.
I...I... I just didn't know I sucked that badly! :(

Okey thats pretty good but I could do it too. I'm sure about that.

This might be a random question about getting beaten by Stevie, but did he win with the Stevie-T? Because, so far it seems that move puts NOONE down. I hit 2 of them on Lita when she was red and she kicked out of both, and Animal kicked out of 3 when he was also really hurt.

Just remember, tapping with a pencil is for sissies.
Anyone who remembers the T&F coin-op knows EXACTLY what I'm talking about right now.
But as far as the submission moves, I played with Benoit on normal diff and really it's just a question of beating the other guy down enough. I mean, to make Brock tap out was a CHORE and I had to stay on him like hair on Albert and his head and upper body had to both be in the red, but I managed to do it.
If Martha Stewart's obituary had a typo in it, would it read "Beloved Aunt"?
No one on this fucking board has ever said it would be hard to make them tap on NORMAL. I remember I sometimes played on NORMAL on the day I bought the game and I made Angle tap with Batista in a few minutes. After that i've played on SMACKDOWN and once again: it's impossible to make them tap when you play on difficulty level smackdown.
And "If" some of you really suck and are having problems winning, the easiest way to win a backstage match and hardcore match is to go to the Training Room, go to the right end of the room, go and run on that machine, press square, triangle and right arrow exactly at the same time, then you can walk through the walls "outside" the room and there you can taunt as many finishing moves as you want. Maybe you all already know this (though i doubt it, cuz nearly all of you seem to be n00bs.) This is one of the biggest bugs in a game I've seen but it's kind of funny and useful if you've got no skills.

Actually the easiest way to win a hardcore match is in the parking lot with the semi. If you whip them to the semi, they will automatically climb up to the roof of the semi truck. They got to get down somehow so they just walk down, causing a lot of injury. Do this like 5 times and you should be able to pin them as their whole body is red.
Mr. Burns: You are of course familiar with our state usury laws? Homer:U-sur-y? Mr. Burns: Oh silly me, I must have just used a word that doesn't exist.
Actually i find the easiest way to win a hardcore match is to go to the training room and run the treadmills for a bit. Your Smackdown meter will fill up hella fast and you can have all the fun you want.
I also cannot stress just how much fun multiplayer can be in this game. Last night we had an elimination match with 4 human and 2 computer players. We gave both CPu's full smackdowns to start the match. Doug had quickly filled his smackdown meter without the rest of us knowing. Karma bit him on the ass however when he was forced to start the match against CPU Kurt Angle with full specials followed by CPU Ted Debiase also with full special. Oh yah and Kurt was season Kurt with all 10's. Poor Doug, just goes to show you that cheaters are always losers. :)

i mean damn, i beat the into a bloody pulp, and then after i'm done, i can't add injury to injury. i grab a chair, they magically get it off me.
it's a load of crap.
and the same for respect. you try to show respect to some one after u whoop thier ass, and they tell u where to stick it.
Whether they respect you or fight you depends on your superstar rating. If your higher than them you can do the post match beatdown or offer respect, otherwise, they'll repel your attack.
