There was a show a couple of years ago called, "It's Like, You Know" which featured Jennifer Grey as herself. I LOVED that show, but I think I was the only one who watched it. It may have lasted half a season, if that.

I'm so excited b/c in July I'm going to Chicago to see Stella, which is made of Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, and David Wain of State and Wet Hot American Summer fame.

In other news, I hate VanillaSky.

This should pretty much be the "late nineties ABC thread." Maximum Bob, Cupid, Sports Night, Once & Again, Clerks, Nothing Sacred, etc. What a sad little network. I know I'm leaving a show or two out.

NBC canned MYOB prematurely in 2000, never giving it a chance during the summer, but then again it freed up one half of my avatar to do Gilmore Girls, so who am I to argue. It's the only really smart half-hour program they've developed since, oh, about 1996, but such is life.

Fox's counterprogrammming of 60 Minutes has been a joke, never allowing Futurama to establish a hold in one time slot. Thus premature cancellation.

Picket Fences wasn't as much a cancellation as much as both parties, Les Moonves and David E. Kelley, saying "okay, this has gotten really sucky," although DEK was pissed at CBS's lack of support for the show (moving it up an hour, allowing most of its audience to find HOMICIDE~!, then moving it back to 10/9c where everyone stayed with NBC.) The fourth season, Fences' last, was horrible.

NewsRadio was getting tired; though he was far from the only good thing on the show, after Hartman's death the series just wasn't the same. NBC never gave it enough support, though, throwing it from night to night and slot to slot just like CBS did with WKRP years before.

Andy Richter's a hard one to bitch at Fox about: they gave it a good time slot and promoted it, but everyone changed the channel when Malcolm ended. Yeah, they screwed things up by launching it in December thanks to baseball, and it wasn't given much time, but I honestly think it was too smart of a show for most of the dumbasses of the world.

Mr. Sterling was awesome and not given enough time to find an audience. Sterling on Wednesday and Ed on Friday would have been a better way to go for the fall (had they actually kept the former.)

*The critic
*Family guy- I used to watch SD! in lieu, bought the DVD set and was very happy
*Beavis and Butthead
*MST3K
*M.A.S.K.
*Danger Mouse

But... not being shown in the U.S., sadly.

    "Tom, I'll disagree."

IIRC, Red Dwarf can be seen on some PBS affiliates. It is syndicated (syndicated to PBS affiliates that is), or has been.

You find me a list of where it's being shown, and you become my best friend in the world.

(On other RD notes, I don't recall hearing anything of them going beyond Series 8, which I'd assume to be 2000)

In no particular order and attempting to adhere to Uber's rule about not still airing somewhere:

-The Muppet Show (it's not anywhere in MY cable lineup...)
-Viva Variety (Can't believe you left this one off, Uber!)
-Nitro (Yup...)
-Silver Spoons (C'mon! They had an episode about scambled porn!)
-The Great Space Coaster ("No Gnus is good Gnus!")
-ALF
-MST3K Pre-Pearl
-You Can't Do That on Television (Is that on Noggin?)
-Alternative Nation Police Squad!
-GET A LIFE!!!!!!!

In no particular order (I'm going off the "cancelled, not DEAD dead" theory):

*MST3K with Joel
*The State
*Kids in the Hall (rarely do I not quote something from this show at least every few days)
*Family Guy
*Newsradio
*Sports Night
*Mad About You (so I'm a sap, sue me!)
*Working

And, 'cause I can't think of much else, I'm going to end it here with:

3 South!

Damn you, MTV! You finally have an entertaining show, and what do you do? Pull it for more True Life!

God, I f@#&kin' hate MTV.

I LOVED Wings. I miss the time when USA seemed to show about 50 episodes per day of that show and I was blissfully college-scheduled so I could watch all of them. The genius of Tony Shalhoub was evident even there, as nothing he'll ever do can be as brilliant as Antonio Scarpacci.

and maybe I should open up my sensitive side/but really, the sensitive side sucks./I've been there./You can only imagine the kinds of sweaters they make you wear.

The only thing I can really think to add is Greg the Bunny. That was a damned funny show that Fox just gave ZERO chance.

I blame American Idol-

I also thought Titus was a hilarious show, especially Dave the brother, but I knew it was going downhill when they changed the timeslot and added the teenage girl.

How about some love for "Police Squad"? One of the best TV shows ever, and only lasted six episodes. Oh well, at least we got the three movies.

The State, that was the skit comedy show on MTV, right? If so, as far as I'm concerned, they produces exactly one great skit. Monkey torture. Pure genius. The rest, not so much in my book (sticking asses in pudding is weird, not really funny).

Okay, I just smacked myself for forgetting Police Squad. That bumps Alternative Nation out of my list.

Crap! I just remembered "Sledge Hammer", too. Okay, so it's not really a Top "10" list.

Yeah, but it was $240 worth of pudding...

Viva Variety (Can't believe you left this one off, Uber!)

I hate accents. I also hate Kerri Kenney.

YCDTOTV isn't on Noggin. There's been surprisingly little turnaround on dead Nick shows moving to the channel. I think The Adventures Of Pete & Pete is the only old Nick show currently airing on there.

Technicality #1 : Clerks (in rerun) is on Comedy Central, see http://www.comedycentral.com/tv_shows/clerks/

Technicality #2 : Don't think Kids in the Hall was technically cancelled either -- I think the guys decided they were bored doing it. (I love that show -- it holds up just as well as Python -- 30 Helens say so.)

Max Headroom. It did a pass on SciFi, & has been on TechTV. They did so few episodes that it's barely worth a network picking it up. And it's not even available on DVD in the US. (Damn Brits.)

Another one: the short-lived You Don't Know Jack (based on the computer game) on ABC, with Paul Reubens as host.

Hell, if we're on cancelled game shows, it's a shame the new Let's Make A Deal didn't make it.

You're really going to hate me when I tell you my friend who we're going with knows Wain and we most likely will get to meet them. I'll tell them you said "hi!".

The State is a religion for some of us. I've watched my tapes over and over. Some of those skits never get old. Thankfully, there is a DVD in the works.

BTW, if we're going to discuss State skits, here's my top 5:

5)"What's this blue spongey meat?" "Well, it's muppet!"
4)"Dear Lord, please kill my brother Tim"
3)"My hormones? What about your hormones?"
2)"Whatta we gonna do...the Popa's gonna be here soon!"
