I don't follow or read Spider-Man comics but I imagine some will get their webbings in a bunch over the new Marvel NOW! Spidey. New costume, new abilities, and a new attitude and way of doing things. (newsarama.com) "Friendly neighborhood" Spider-Man is out the window, Marvel promises.

It's stuff like this that makes me happy I stopped reading spider-man after one more day. I love Spidey but the company just doesn't seem to get what makes the character great (hint: its because he is fun, not because we want him to be batman)

Stegman chases me away more than any character tweaks. I don't have any interest in the graffiti style of comic art.

The most frustrating thing about this whole is that we just HAD a darker Spider-Man! BEFORE One More Day! And it sucked! Remember when he threatened one of Kingpin's henchmen by offering to stuff his insides full of webbing from the nostrils? Yeah, that wasn't fun to read. And that's not Spider-Man.

I'm sure "dark and emo" is exactly what Uncle Ben had in mind for the character. Good grief.

Eh, it'll get undone if everyone hates it.

I'm more bummed about them ending Amazing Spider-Man.

Edit: So...who exactly is he superior to? Is there an Inferior Spider-Man?

Wild guess? Himself.

Or maybe Peter Parker discovers he's a mutant after all. Homo sapiens Superior Spider-Man.

There have actually quite a number of good Spidey stories since OMD.

I think that's what most frustrating, IMHO. They've actually bounced back pretty nicely since OMD. The Ends of the Earth storyline turned out to be one of my favorite Spidey stories and gave the Sinister Six the kind of #respect that CM Punk could only dream of.

To turn Spidey into a dark character, especially since their last attempt was so recent, feels like they're taking the character a step backwards and undoing a lot of the progress the character has made.

On the other hand, the new costume (sans toe claw) is the kind of nice, incremental change that will ultimately become the new normal without much fuss. Although the interior eye ridges will probably be streamlined away at some point.

According to Dan Slott (bleedingcool.com), the Superior Spider-man is not Peter Parker, but he will hook up with MJ.

I'm triple out.

They learned nothing from the Clone Saga.

People want their Spider-Man to be Peter Parker.

(Or possibly Donald Glover.)

Poor Miles Morales.

Toe claw notwithstanding (I didn't like it on Tim Drake's first Robin suit or on Ricky Steamboat's 1985 boots), I think the new Superior Spidey suit looks pretty good. (cdn.bleedingcool.net)

    Poor Miles Morales.

I really like Miles in the Ultimate Universe.
It's a really fresh take on things.
But I have no interest on seeing Peter being replaced (again) in the 616 universe.
Now I'm sure there's going to be a twist somewhere, and we haven't seen the last of Peter I don't think this is going to be received well.

speaking of Miles Morales, the cross-over ended with Peter back home, googling the name and looking all shocked.
Maybe this will have something to do with it? :)

I hope this isn't Morbius. Slott has used him a lot recently.

Vampire Spidey romancing MJ might be a ploy to get residual Twilight fans.

Sweet Jesus, if that is even remotely true, I hope Stan wins that lawsuit and we go back to having a rather sane Marvel U.

Ok, that definitely makes for a not-so friendly Spider-man, is a change I can live with. And it makes for some great conflicts.

Though I can see how and why people hate this.

Being naive, I read through ASM #698 thinking a couple of times, "Well, that's odd."

Reading it a second time was so enjoyable once I was looking for the hints.

Well, they're almost as bad as his publishing skills. Spawn is late almost every month. For a series that started in 1992, it should have a lot more issues published than it does.
