Ya know, I was thinking that if Vince had actually thought the XFL out and actually let the teams practice more than 2 weeks before the season, thought out the rules, not signed Ventura and let JR do the Play by Play, not promoted the cheerleaders more than the players, not made comments dissing the NFL and not tried to go into HUGE markets in the first year we might have a 2nd XFL season. Americans love football and would have welcomed another league to tide them over until College season started again. It was just botched so bad (kind of like the Invasion angle), that it bombed horribly.
I am sure another group will come up and try another league and it will be successful. But after the XFL fiasco it will be awhile before that happens. The idea was sound, just the execution was terrible. I think there still is a market for it.

| #2 Posted on 4.2.02 0758.12 | Totally agree. At least Arena League starts up pretty soon. Since I had to miss a few next week, I'm not getting season tickets to the Louisville Fire this year, but I will make a few games, and if TNN still has their Sunday afternoon games, I'll try to watch.

| #3 Posted on 4.2.02 1324.55 | I agree as well. One of Vince's main problems was that he attacked the NFL at every opportunity and when the XFL couldn't compete on field, people turned on it.
I still think Vince just threw a football league together because he heard that Ted Turner wanted to start a league and you know Vince's weird obsession with beating Turner....
