| #44 Posted on 17.4.08 0939.56 | Simple solution.
1) Move Cole to ECW so he's with Tazz again, maybe that will motivate him. 2) Put Adamle on Smackdown. Why? 3 reasons. a) From what I've heard, he isn't too bad after a bit of post-production. b) This will mean we'll only notice him suck during Smackdown matches on PPV, and I can live with once a month. c) It'll make Coach sound good by comparison.

I thought Coach and Raven worked pretty well together when they still had Heat on TV.
Credit mostly to Raven? Sure, but Coach still had to say his lines and such.

Not so much "punish" as "group the semi-decent announcers and god-awful announcers together".

| #49 Posted on 17.4.08 1150.52 | Instant Rating: 6.97 | A few things...
1. Tony Schiavone - Was a great interview guy, but he clearly did get bogged down by WCW's front offices after some time. However, I'm a little skeptical that absolutely everything - his excessive hyperbole, delivery, etcetera - can be blamed on outside influences. There's something to be said for working with the tools that you have, and unfortunately in wrestling too much emphasis is put on what a company WON'T allow a performer to do. A good announcer, like a good wrestler, should be flexible enough to be good at his/her job even while working with dictates from higher-ups. In some cases the gripes are legitimate, but more often than not they're just excuses.
2. I really don't think Michael Cole is that bad at all. I think the pitfall is that people compare him to Jim Ross, which is unfair since Ross is so damn good at his job that his voice is synonymous with wrestling in much the same way Gordon Solie's was with professional wrestling in the 1980s. Speaking of which, it's not like there were a dirth of great play-by-play guys back then (late 80s/early 90s) either. Cole at his worst, to me, is passable. Which considering he's another one of those guys they hire with no previous knowledge of the product, he deserves to be commended for.
3. Joey Styles' heart isn't in it like it once was, and even he would probably admit that (it's worth noting that his "exile" from wrestling was self-imposed). His style and delivery was a perfect fit with the old ECW product, which I think allowed people to get carried away with calling him a GREAT announcer. He was still good, mind you, and I don't think he did an awful job with the "new" ECW or anything.
4. Coach I just find unlistenable. His dictation and emphasis is fine, but his voice and delivery - whether it's in the role of PBP or color commentary - grate on me after a bit.

Summerslam '89 might ruin that illusion. His orgasm in the main event is pretty embarrassing. At least Jesse Ventura ripping him to shreds for the whole show is amusing.

Fair enough. However, I just re-watched Flair vs. Sting from the first Clash, and I thought he did a decent, if not excellent, job at calling the match.
I've been on a bit of a nostalgia trip since Flair retired, so my critical eye isn't properly focused at the moment. And again, this is no way a defense of his later work.
