The following post expresses the opinions of a raving Jerichoholic. He is biased, opinionated and bitter. You have been warned.

How one manages to snatch defeat from the very jaws of victory is beyond me, especially against the Devil Rays! If you don't know what happened, please don't try to find out. You will only laugh and point at all of the saddened individuals hanging around the Weinerboard.

Fuck, man. That was awful. I share in the deep shame of Sox fans everywhere.

Rot in hell, Carl Crawford.

On the flipside, I hope this isn't a sign of things to come for Chad Fox.

/Edit: But misfortune is not limited to the Trop. In Toronto, Derek Jeter has dislocated his shoulder. I excerpt for you:

"Jeter was down for more than 10 minutes, writhing in pain and surrounded by worried teammates. He was helped onto a cart by trainers Gene Monahan and Steve Donohue, strapped in place sitting upright and taken off the field -- his head bent, his face dripping with sweat."

So much for the bullpen by committee theory for the BoSox.

Did Mendoza or Timlin even get in the game?

Come on folks it the BOSTON REDSOX we should all know better. We should all know that since they don't have a real closer that it will bite them in the ass in the first game. Its the Red Sox way. They screwed my grandfather, my dad, me and they will screw my kids.

Oh my lord, as the resident d-rays fan on this board, or at least the only one who will admit it, I here by thank the Red Sox for choking this game away. There were way too many Red Sox fans at the Trop tonight for us to lose this game. In closing, Carl Crawford rules and we can now go on to lose the next 161 games and I will still be happy.

I was wondering how many Sox fans decided to run out and hang themselves yesterday.

On another note, I find it humorous that the D-Rays looked like they won the World Series...

Mendoza pitched a 1-2-3 8th inning. Thus, that means, since he threw under 10 pitches, they had to get him out of the game immediately. Chad Fox is a guy whose best days were on a bad Milwaukee team, and that was before double Tommy John surgery. Another reason why Epstein is already proving himself to be an incompetant GM and the clowns running the team should be publicly flogged. I was saying it when the disaster of the 9th was beginning, screw everything and give the ball to Wakefield, he's the only closer I have any faith on on the Sox.

I think it was a fluke.

While I also have no faith in Chad Fox, Embree is a very good pitcher. He had a great year last year and I think he can close for them.

This is one scrappy D-Rays team we got going so far this year. Baldelli and Crawford are going to be stars in a few years. The infield just got a boost today when we signed Damian Easley. And we pretty much got him for free while the Tigers have to pay out his contract:-)

So that gives us Huff at third, Ordonez at ss, Easley at the duece, and Travis Lee at first. With that outfield of the future we just might be a contender...in about four years.

Actually, I think Marlon Anderson is a better second baseman than Easley. But, the main problem for Tampa is this: They have no pitching. Last season, they were actually over .500 20 games into the season, and then the lack of pitching killed them.

Well if Kennedy and Zambrano pan out then we have a great righty and lefty right there. And if the team ever decides to add a couple free agents then we'd be fine. The surprise for me right now is the bull pen. Carter, Venfroe, Sosa, and McClung are playing way over their heads right now.

It's two games into the season... let's be careful before we make any conclusions about how good the D-Rays are going to be this year. While I like the pickup of Easley, I also think that Ordonez isn't worth the effort - not that I know of anyone in the Rays' system who could step up and play there (does Abernathy play SS too?), though.

Give the pen a few weeks before deciding (even though a 16-inning game is a great way to see all the arms there, though). I'm always reminded of the 6-game D-Rays homestand I saw their inaugural season, where the 'pen blew 3 wins. (They did go 1-5, though.)

The Devil Rays will have a better record by a few games, but is that enough to keep all twelve of their fans entertained? I have the game on right now and damn Tropicana Field looks like a ghost town. I give credit to all the baseball fans that showed up though. There is alot of talk about the D-Ray outfield, but they're young and need time. I think my Red Sox and that Evil Empire will still pad their stats against the D-Rays for at least another year. But the games will have alot more interest this year.
