But what was the reason for censoring/whatever the word 'rumble' when Buffer did his spiel?

Well, I SAID it was a stupid question!

I moved it from somewhere else since it seemed to better belong here.

Huh? I think I'm still missing something. It ALMOST sounds like you mean he has a copy write for the phrase "Let's get ready to rumble', but that just sounds asinine. Can someone really DO that?

EDIT: WOW, first non-CRZ post in here... I feel honored. Screw that 'W of the day' crap!

Yeah, that's what he's saying.

From the link:

Buffer Enterprises, Inc. now offers a cash bonus to those who report a corroborated unauthorized use [resulting in an actual recovery] of the "Let's Get Ready to Rumble," Get Ready To Rumble or "Ready to Rumble" servicemarked phrases ,any paraphrasing of these marks (including Get Ready To Crumble, Are Your Ready To Rumble? Lets Get Ready To Gamble), or use of Michael Buffers famous rendition of his copyrighted Lets Get Ready To Rumble recording. This bonus system applies to viable reports [resulting in an actual recovery] of unauthorized use of our servicemarks, copyrights or related rights in or upon TV, radio, the internet, print or in connection with unlicensed products or services such as T-shirts, toys, posters, or other merchandise.

In the real world, WWE believes that no matter what our race, religious creed or ethnic background in America, we all share the common bond of being Americans. American-Arabs are a part of the fabric of America, and they should be embraced by all of us.

EDIT: Mr. Boffo beat me to it, but I like my response better

My job was to keep my face in front of the public, and Bruce did the rest.
The whole interview is here.

Ever wonder why you never hear anyone else say it in public? Kinda like the "Happy Birthday" song. No one even sings it on TV or in the movies because someone somewhere owns the rights to it & they get paid everytime it gets used.

I remember reading somewhere once that WCW had to pay Buffer $10,000 each time he announced a main event.

So will quoting this quote mean that we have to take up the "Pay Michael Buffer" collection fund here on The W?

It's like the "Pay Mr. Trump!" joke from Family Guy, only real.
