1. Who carries around their life savings in cash? Not only that, if I had my life savings in cash (which doesn't amount to nearly as much, by the way), I'd make sure it never left my sight. I'd keep an eye on this woman. An Arizona driver's license, $43K in her purse, found in Wyoming. I'll bet she's moving away to start a new identity in a new state. http://www.jsonline.com/news/metro/nov04/276550.asp
2. They didn't know the money was there. “I can’t believe we had that much money in our possession and didn’t even know it,” Simanton said. In other words, "$&%^! If we knew that money was there, we never would have returned it!"
3. They got a reward of $200. That's good money, no doubt. But it's only .4% of the value of the purse. That's like finding a wallet with $50 in it and being rewarded with a quarter.

There is no college in Casper. Well, maybe a community college. How odd.
And what are the chances of "Stop the car! I see a purse!" and then the guys actually return the purse? Totally went out of their way to do a good deed. Good for them.

But the one guy said that if they had known, they would have kept the money. That makes them somewhat kind, but also makes them A-holes.
DISCLAIMER: That doesn't mean that I would have not done the same thing, but I certainly wouldn't say that I would have kept it. They deserve their $200 and no more.
WADSWORTH: The games up, Scarlet. There are no more bullets left in that gun. SCARLET: Oh, come on, you don't think I'm gonna fall for that old trick? WADSWORTH: It's not a trick. There was one shot at Mr. Boddy in the study. Two for the chandelier, two at the lounge door, and one for the singing telegram. SCARLET:That's not six. WADSWORTH: One plus two plus two plus one. SCARLET:Nuh, uh. There was only one shot that got the chandelier. That's one plus two plus ONE plus one. WADSWORTH: Even if you are right, that would be one plus one plus two plus one, not one plus TWO plus one plus one. SCARLET:(thinking) Okay, fine. One plus two plus one--(angered) Shut up!
Actually, unless you're quoting from a different report, he was only saying that he couldn't believe they were unknowingly walking around with 43K. What they would have done had they known is only left for you to guess at.

Torchslasher, if you're inferring that from what I said, I was just making a joke. That's sure what it sounded like to me, but he didn't actually say the words. And maybe I'm just inserting my questionable morality into this situation, since I think that a woman who loses a purse that she knows has $43K in it probably deserves to lose it.
